Losing a beloved pet sucks. In some other thread I talked about when I lost my dog. Don't really want to drag up those old thoughts twice in one week.

I gotta take mine too... she can't see or hear, has no balance, walks in circles all day and smells really awful. I'll bury her in the backyard.

This is her on better days:

(hey, maybe they'll come back alive for halloween, hehe, bad joke, sorry)

When I was 9, my 14 year-old dog Max had to be put to sleep. It was really hard. I'm really sorry about your dog.

-julieme-he has other problems then just kidneys...I thought about getting a transplant but(1)i don't have enough money (2) the vets all say that because of those problems he would not be able survive. we tried fluids and he perked up for a little but he still can't walk. the not walking is because of something else.

we decided to take him thursday instead of teusday so i will have more time to prepare.

We had to put my dog to sleep. I had her 11 years, I was devestated. But she was in horrible pain and I didn't want her to suffer any longer. The vet wasn't sure what exactly it was, but from what he saw on the xray, it was a death sentence, she hated all the tests and poking and prodding so I didn't see any reason to put her through any more just for the end result to be euthanised. The vet is pretty sure it was cancer. She was to large to burry in the yard, but I saved her tags and keep them on my key chain. I still have all her stuffys. Can't bring myself to getting rid of them. They make me smile when I look at them. She was hyper, useless, illmannered, stubborn, disobedient mutt. I wouldn't have traded her for anything. She had a good heart, and I like to think about her. At first I couldn't without crying, now, I smile when I think of how much she drove me crazy. You do whats best for your beloved pet, he dosn't understand why he hurts. But he's had a very good life, and he knows he's loved. And thats what matters the most.

I'm so sorry about your dog. My dog is sick right now and I'm sure we'll have to make this decision soon, too. But as much as I'm sure you love your dog, you don't want it to suffer. Sometimes putting them to sleep is better for them to end their pain and suffering. If it does happen, just know that your dog is in a better place. Again, I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose your pet. They really are like a member of your family.

I am sad for you, but remember you are doing your dog a kindness.

Still a sad time for you though.

I'm so sorry to hear that, but in the end, it's the kindest thing you can do to your dog. I've been there myself so I know how painful it is to make that decision as pets are family members that we love.

I'm sorry for your loss... I hope you'll be okay. Just think about how you gave your pet a good life.

Ours nearly had to be put down recently, and it was terrible. Good luck to you - be strong.

I was very upset when I had to put my dog Jojo to sleep in 2003. It was two days before my 24th birthday, and I had her since I was 7. She was very old, was blind, deaf, and had severe arthritis.

Just a week before, I got my current dog, Josie. Both dogs were the same breed (rat terrier).

My dad had to put our first family dog down, eleven years ago. That was when we had visitors from California and they were planning on living in Canada. That was the saddest day of all of our lives.
