Does anyone think that they are stupid? Could it be possible that when a person is very young, too young to even comprehend that a parent can call their own child stupid? I think of myself as stupid, dumba**, even though I have a college degree. I wonder if a parent or any older relative called me stupid when I was too young to know any better? Being autistic, learning disabled, or any type of disability I think makes any relative call a child names. Having no disability, I think that child gets less bullied by relatives. I do recall elementary school teachers thinking I was stupid...

I've never believed that i'm stupid but was told so for years and therefore also ended up with special education. Parents and teachers (at least at that time) could actually call one names and belittle you in every possible way.

I always think that I'm stupid. I always think of myself as ugly and stupid. Sometimes I wish that I were either very good looking or really intelligent....or both of course. I know it's not good to feel this way but I can't help the way I feel. I try hard not to let myself think that way though.

Aspergians seem more likely to blame themselves rather than other in the general population. I think that's why.

You could also be a perfectionist like I was.

Sometimes I wonder if I am just stupid and it had nothing to do with my AS or a learning disability.

I feel I'm stupid a lot of the times. I'm stupider than NTs. Last week when I had a virus on my computer, I didn't know what to do, and I cried and said, ''why am I so stupid, why don't I know how to fix anything?!'' and so I had to get my cousin to come over and look at it, and he knew exactly what to do. I've been able to operate a computer since I was about 8, or younger, and I still can only do the general basics.

I know I am clever in other ways, like with working out people's intentions. I am so good at knowing what people are thinking and feeling and what their intentions are and trying to work around them. I am no mind-reader, I'm just good at sussing people out, and because I'm the last person everyone would expect to work things like that out, I can get away with it more.

Well if you're stupid then I'm probably brain dead, as I dropped out of college (man those were some bad times). Oh and I don't consider myself overall stupid. In some ways, yes, but in other ways I'm really smart.

I don't think anyone is truly stupid. Sure, you have all these measurements and standards and all of that, but nobody is perfect. It is impossible to know absolutely everything. It is much more important to be well rounded and realize you are fine rather than to stress over what you don't know. It would seem to me that some are quick to judge others and just assume they are stupid in general based off of one incident, whereas the truth could be very different.

That's true, everybody has their own strengths as individuals.

I suppose that the word stupid has an extremely broad definition, so broad it encompasses potentially all that is different to yourself, your way of life or your opinions.

For example, I see stupidity in conceited egotists and the way they do things, while I've no doubt they'd be the first people to label me as stupid.

So I would say not.
