Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to share a story about a car accident I went through a few months ago. I just thought I would share it on this forum because a car accident can definitely lower a person's confidence.

Have any of you (or someone you care about) been through a car accident? What happened? Did you manage to get behind the wheel again?

I would be interested if you could describe your experiences behind the wheel.

I hold a learner's permit but right now I don't trust myself to drive because of inatention and terrible sleep hygine. I did a fair amount of my "supervised driving" when I was 17 and 18. The closest I ever came to having an accident was a time I was really tired and absent minded and I enetered the "shared left turn lane" when I wasn't supposed to. Other than that, I THINK I did ok but it's a demanding task!

My mom's mom got into a minor accident recently. She fell asleep and hit a gazebo, according to my uncle. (She wasn't hurt.) She's getting old and her health is starting to deteriorate and she really shouldn't be at the wheel.

My mentor has also had two car accidents. In one she injured her shoulder; in another she got whiplash, if I remember right. A big shipping truck hit her in one, right on the driver's side (where she was!). I believe that was the accident where she hurt her shoulder.

I've found that Aspies have many different opinions about driving. Some love it, some think it's okay, some hate it and some cannot do it because of their neurological differences.

All in all I am lucky that I was not badly hurt. My accident was indeed a scary experience.
