From the earliest age I have always felt the deepest affinity for Japan and its culture. Myself being half Japanese and the fact that I love anime and videogames have contributed to this fact. I feel like life is pretty hard when I realize that I am living in the middle of the redneck state of Montana, and consistently dealing with people who are racist towards the Japanese, and there are few asians where I live, and even fewer with my interests. I dream about life in Japan and being able to fulfill my interests there. I wish there was some way I could even be in Japan. Does any one know where there would be large populations of either asians or computer geeks nearby?

I have simular feelings to the ones that you have. The feelings are towards another country, though. I wish I was in England. I've always felt this way. I find the rooves on the houses in the town that I live in, too flat and boring for my tastes. I also don't like the grammar that the people in North America use. Everybody in North America speaks in questions, and it's not just teenagers, any more. I get ticked off, when people speak in uncomplete sentences, as well. When I ask them what it is about the topic they're talking about, I say, "Okay, thankyou." in a dignified manner and I walk away with a certian "English" style of grace. I don't stick my nose up in the air, however. I become very livid, when I hear people making fun of English accents, and I get even more angry, if they're poking fun at the Cockney Dialect, for a very obvious reason. I also want to make a career of restoring tired Routemasters, and I can't do that right now, because I'm in Canada. I hope that you have a chance to go on a holiday to Japan, sometime in the future. You'll enjoy it, very much!

I'd (almost literally) kill to go to Japan.
First, however, I'd like to learn Japanese. I think that'd make things considerably easier on lil' ol gaijin me.

I really hope this doesn't get me in trouble with the government, but I actually am not at all patriotic towards the US and instead have transferred those feelings towards Japan

I feel more patriotic towards the UK, than I feel towards Canada.

I'm with you CockneyRebel.

A friend of mine said that she thought I was a British soul born into an American body.
I think she's got it right.

I love England. I wish I were in England now, for a number of reasons.
I'd move there, but I'd miss all my family here.

Yes, I feel exactly the same way about Japan. I plan to finish my Uni course, learn Japanese and get over there ASAP.

I feel the same way you do Animeboy. I think for me, it's more that there is a acceptance of I guess, a more natural female culture over there. What I mean, is that it isn't considered so weird to be 30 and still like the same things you did when you were 10. Like the Kawaii (cute) Culture over there. Which is based around such things like Hello Kitty, that stuff is fun. Also there are more video-games targeted at girls in Japan. Nintendo right now is the only console company, that is making an effort to import some of those girl-aimed games from Japan.

Japan is an interesting place. But I'm not sure I'd like to live there. While in general "The System" works better, it can be awfully bleak there too.

I've learned a bit of Japanese because I was taking a Japanese Language course at one point in college, and I found it interesting and (I want to say 'easy') to learn. The alphabet is not hard to learn, and there are no complicated pronunciation rules like in English (like how a word changes sound when there is an 'e' on the end e.g. fat --> fate). I was once entirely set on going to Japan, and I guess I still am, but my extreme want for the country... I think I have grown out of it or something :?

Personally, I feel like staying in Australia, although I sometimes feel British, mostly because of my interests in Doctor Who and British Comedy....

Australia is probably the most sucessfully multicultural English-speaking country in the world. I say most sucessful, as there are still race related problems, especially now with the general prejudice against Islam, but I'd say it's pretty good. I said "English-speaking" because I dunno how well other countries (particularly European) have embraced multiculturalism....

Japan maybe a nice place to visit, but I know only katakana, and I'd probably not want to stay, at least in a city...

Learn to speak Japanese if you don't already know it.
Go work as an English teacher there (and get fingers poked in your ass :B )
I'm on my way to China in that same business. Hopefully without the ass poking...

I was born in Japan(military family), and I have wanted to go back for a long time. What sucks even more than never going is having lived there before but being too young to remember anything. Though the love of Japanese food has rubbed off on my brother and I, so I guess I remember something. I'm going to learn Japanese and try to figure the money situation. It would be great to live there but it's expensive and Japan has earthquakes. Even a small earthquake leaves me sick in bed all day before it hits.
