I'm having a hard time finding a new life. My old one would put me in the grave. How do I adjust to my reality?

I'm going to move soon for the second time, this time on my own. Going to be scary but it should be good for me. I have IBS, what is your chronic illness?

I went through a period of mourning or grief for my 'old life' when I was hit by a drunk driver, injured and developed some issues with chronic pain that still affect my daily life. I think it's natural to struggle with finding a 'new normal.'

I wish I had better advice to give, but all I can say is to try to get in touch with your feelings and work through it the best you can. Keeping emotions bottled up and letting grief and anger fester can actually lead to more health problems. Also, don't fall into a victim role, but don't be too hard on yourself, either. Just acknowledge that you are human and having a natural, human response to difficult circumstances and be patient with yourself.
