Is this an Eating Disorder-NOS?
A whle ago I saw a social worker for a few times before I decided she wasn't the one for me.
But lately I have been thinking about something she said. She thought I have an ED-NOS because I eat very little variety.
Basically I eat no more than three foods as a staple and rarely eat any other food. Then I can't even look at some of those foods for years. I am a vegetarian but do eat most dairy. No meat or eggs. I try to avoid refined sugar but have no problems eating other types of sweeteners. I do not have a balance of fats and calories most of the time. I might be ok but if I try to change my diet to a healthier eating habit, I end up not eating enough instead of replacing the foods I eat to something better. Right now I am so hungry I feel sick because most of what I ate has too little fat.
What do you think? ED-NOS? ED-NOS because of AS? Or just a part of having AS. I have seen others on the spectrum who will only eat certain foods.
Edit: I need to add that there are several foods I can't stand, including any tomato food or anything with mushrooms or olives. I won't try to list them all but those are the two main things.
What three foods are you talking about?

This sounds a lot like me when I was a little younger. Since then I have broadened my repertoire a little.
If these factors are in place, I would suggest you may have an eating disorder:
You perceive yourself to be overweight
You have lost more than twenty percent of your weight
You have a fear of becoming fat
If none of these factors are present, then it may just be down to AS, and 'pickyness', I was diagnosed with anorexia when I was in my teens but I now think the diagnosis was incorrect. When I am under stress I only feel able to eat the foods that I feel most comfortable with and at the time those foods were porridge and one type of soup so of course I lost weight! Even now I eat quite a limited range of foods in comparison to others, although clearly a wider range than you do.
Whatever the reason for the issue, if it is possible for you to take multivitamins I think that might be a good idea. If possible you could slowly introduce a few more foods into your diet. If you are very underweight you could try eating slightly more but of the same foods. Do you eat dairy replacements such as soya milk? That has a reasonable amount of calories in it.
Right now it is:
1:whole wheat tortillas with peanut butter,
2: yogurt with protein powders and fruit, and
3:home-made vitamuffin copy-cat recipe I tried. I don't know how many of you have heard of Vitamuffins but if you look online for the copy-cat recipes you can find one. Not at all filling like the real ones are though.
I don't think there are underlying reasons that have anything to do with weight.
