Tomorrow morning I rehearse my (end of 2nd year PhD) formal presentation for next week. My slides have been compiled for quite some time, although I've updated. I'm comfortable with my material, just shy. My voice is naturally quiet. Today I've practiced my timings.

The dilemma.....I am really nervous to publicly present.

Thanks. In all honesty, I feel so silly 'talking aloud to myself' during this practice. All alone in my flat, presenting to my fish aquarium!

Fish are the best things to practice a presentation on.... because of their memories every time you run through it it's the first time they've heard it :D

Good luck with your presentation. I'm sure you'll do great.

I talked to a wall once... (while practicing a presentation)...it is very odd but it did help having done it when it came to do the real thing.

Hope it goes really well.

It's a good idea to practice out loud. It's almost like rehearsing for a play; you know you're going to be nervous, but at least you know all of your lines!(and at the very least, a presentation is easier than a conversation :-)) Best of luck!

When you get to my age, you'll accept talking to yourself as normal as brushing your teeth every day.

Be wary of those fish, they are not as ignorant as the myth says.
