47 years old. Apparently destined to be single forever. Mortgage and bills to pay. Not making enough as self employed seamstress. Couldn't even hang on to evening job as a waitress! Starting to go IN f*****g SANE!!

What now?

Is it a dumb ass idea to sell my house and use the equity to just go from place to place and feel like I'm doing some sort of living before I die. Of course I can only do it till the money runs out!

Are you in a position to rent out a room and/or deal with a room-mate? Perhaps you might be able to find someone who's a good fit? If not, perhaps you can find someone you can at least tolerate for 3-6 months while you "get some breathing room," financially speaking.

I respect the 'romantic' nature of your proposed plan. I really do. Not sure how "rational" it is. Then again, I'm not sure I know the first thing about "being rational."

Wishing you some relief...

Make a realistic expected cost cost appraisal of your home per month, add in any major repairs due or due in the next 5 years figure out you total cost per month with utilitys, If you can make it now with blank$ with out the home how much would you need per month It might be more profitable to sell and rent as needed than own. Also this frees you up to go to were you can find work. I rent now and I save $350 a month over the home I owned. Its not for every one but some times owning a home doesn't make good fiscal sense ether.

I was thinking along similar lines, but a friend said to me "wherever you go, there you are." This really made me think. And it explained why drastic changes that I have made in the past didn't help. My advice (for what it's worth,) keep the house and try to find a new way to make the payments. I think that counts as "living" and is probably adventure enough.
