Fantasia is getting released on DVD and Blu-Ray at the end of the year, and I've been anticipating it ever since 2008. Whenever the potential release date was changed, I'd be able to recall it instantly. If my friends tell me that something is happening on Saturday night, I will base my Saturday on what will happen on that night, sacrificing all else.

When my dad tells me to mow the lawn, I say, "Yes," and go back to what I was doing. A couple of days later he asks me why I haven't mowed the lawn. I tell him I forgot. He asks me how I can forget. I tell him it wasn't interesting enough.

Sounds like my problem. I never could remember to mow the lawn and so my mom got some dude to cut it for her. I always told her to tell me when I wasn't busy. I don't think anyone with no interest in keeping their grass perfectly flat and low in height would remember to do that.

I'm the same way. I can usually only remember things that are related to my interests. I forget everyday things like when to take my medication and what time my mom gets home from work.

I'm the opposite, i have to consciously block things out by thinking really hard or focusing on something to forget things. Thankfully, things i REALLY don't like, like sports, are filtered out.

I too only remember things that I am interested in. It's affected my whole life and education.

Same. I only recall what interests me. That's just how I operate.

Yeah, it's a problem for me too, and I'm trying to get a PhD in something I'm not interested in because I started off thinking it would be interesting and now I am too stubborn to quit. What a mess. I've developped a system, at least, for remembering to do certain school related activities that I'd otherwise forget - putting color coded teenytiny hair elastics on my fingers. They don't get in the way, but I look at my hands often enough to notice them.

I think most people are probably like this to some degree though. The more you think about something, the more likely you are to remember it, and who thinks about boring things?

That's the primary reason for me reconsidering my prior plan to enter postgraduate education. I still may, but only if I find something I know I'm interested in.

Probably wise to hold off until you're sure it's what you want, indeed.

I have the same problem. My parents are always frustrated with me, but I can never remember. If they say to do a chore, I probably won't remember. If you tell me on Tuesday that my brothers girlfriend will be there on wednesday night, I won't remember, and then freak out when she's coming and have to hide. I have a terrible memory. My mom is always sad because I don't remember different things that she says happened when i was little. Like taking a train ride somewhere, or going to a special place.

The other night, there was a marathon of a TV show on. I had never seen it, but it looked good. I got hooked right away, but by the third episode, I'd forgotten what the first was about. :(

anyone know how to make my memory better?

I'm glade i'm not alone. I always hear about aspies with amazing memories, and I feel bad because I am the opposite.

Same thing here. Sadly, "interesting" to me means "obsolete" and "pointless" to everyone else.

i sometimes wonder if maybe that was my problem with math and natural/physical science (physics, biology, chemistry, etc)when i was in school. not so much that i couldn't do it well, and more that i just was not interested enough to work too hard at learning how to do it.

I remember facts that I've read about my favourite bands, years ago but I forget to take out my kitchen garbage.
