Not meant to be a negative, but I get this feeling that the whole fate of the world depends on me! Like that part of Pokemon: The Movie 2000.

I dunno why, but this is a feeling that has festered within me within the past 15-odd years. It can be good or bad, depending on what it is, I think. I may led the Mets to the playoffs in 1999 (with the song Let's Go Mets!) then, but lately, so many bad things have happened to me, even though I am just one man....... what does it mean to you guys?

if you were never born, the world would still be here in exactly the same fashion as it is.
sorry about that but that is my answer.

Psychologically speaking this could just be over-compensation for feeling unimportant or abandoned, for example.

Philosophically speaking you could well argue that the world depends on you, but other people might not agree of course (if you buy into the concept of "other people").

A LOT of guys I know thought they were The One to Save the World when they were young. Usually they get over it by the time they hit 33 and realized they've already outlived Jesus.

I get that. Or rather, I am a Cassandra: I tell the truth but nobody believes me. I spent 30 years finding simple answers to the world's problems. And now that I have the answers nobody cares. I discover, too late, that truth (in the abstract sense) matters very little to people. The only ideas that matter to people are:
1. what others are doing
2. what benefits them in the short term

So yes, I feel that the world depends on me. Even though, ironically, what I do makes no difference. I feel like I am on the Titanic, saying "there is an iceberg coming" and nobody listens. Now possibly I am an idiot, but my ideas are straight from the most famous economist in history (Adam Smith) so if I am wrong then I am in good company. When people read my ideas they ask questions that imply they have only read a few lines. I have a communication problem.

The normal thing to do when one has a message is to create a group and go social networking, pushing, pushing, pushing. But I'm really bad at that and hate it. I only care for the ideas. So here I am. I suppose I am just vain and self important. I guess.

In a way; yes. Let me bring an example.

Imagine if Albert Einstein never existed.

There goes the last ~50 years of scientific progress.

A world where he did exist is dependant on him. A world where he didn't is not.

Would someone else have done it? Probably. How sooner? Could be years, could be centuries, could be never.

If the atomic bomb was never finished, how would the out one of WWII have changed? Would we still be here? Who would hace descended from those who died? Would we be living in a world dependant ob their scientific advances? Would we have colonies on the moon by now?

The world is dependant on you directly proportionate to how much you strive to change it.

On the global scale, change the order of the world in however you see fit. Be it a book, song or videogame; change the world for the better.

On the personal level; things are much simpler. While this is just my take on it...

Live life loving, Live life loved, live life content with who you are, and don't let anyone change that. One cannot control the fate of the world if they cannot at least find a place to rest in their own life.

Work with the goal to change it in mind, and do not falter in your quest.

To me, it sounds like a symptom of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Not that you have it, but it is a symptom of it.

I'm pretty sure that the whole world is just a dream that I am having. You guys better make sure I don't die, or you'll all stop existing.

(Just kidding, I have the exact opposite problem. I underestimate my importance.)

in a way, i felt heavier than the universe when i was a child.
when i walked upon the earth, i felt that i was always motionless, and that i was pulling the ground on the earth toward me like i was walking on a giant ball that i could rotate and push away and pull toward me.
i felt like i was the center of reality and that all creation happened around me, and because i felt that i was at the center (because i could pick and choose what i want to take home from it)....well i have to wake up again. i have to return to the land of the living. i have to learn that my view of the world is not absolutely correct.

but i will do all that tomorrow (or the next day) because i am too tired to turn over new leaves at this time of night.

To describe how I feel: I feel like I am the 'chosen one' of all the people of this Earth.

Well. No. Because I'm actually planning on dropping a space colony onto Earth soon, once giant mechanized war machines have sprung to life. Which will freeze it over and cause a nuclear winter. Humanity will then be forced to go into space or perish. There, the remaining portions of our brains will begin to be employed by humanity. Which will grant us psychic power such as precognition, telekinesis and telepathy. Then we can all live as one.

Also. I'm not attempting to be mean. But this is delusional behavior. That could be manic depression, or it could be something else.

It depends how we approach the question. Each person is the center of their universe. The further something is from you, the less important it is: do any humans worry about storms on the far side of another galaxy? No, unless they affect is.

The universe only exists from points of view. There is no absolute viewpoint, no outside reference point we can all agree on. Even the laws of physics depend on who observes them (for a particle of light, for example, there is no time or space, because for anything moving at the speed of light time slows to a stop and distances contract to zero). The universe as you know it exists because you exist. When you die (assuming that time flows and it is "you" who dies) then that universe will cease to exist.
