BLEEP my parents

Let me be frank right now: I HATE my parents. They are stereotypical Korean conservative parents, and I am more of an Americanized person, and as a result, I have gotten mad at them for so many reasons; and have gone as far as calling them 'obstructionists'.

This has led me to one solution: A no-contact order against them. They have brought me to the brink many times; this time, with them misunderstanding my way of picking me up from somewhere (long story there, I stayed at a friend's), they have gone too far. I am not empowered enough yet to do this, but an NCO is my only way to free myself from them; it will be for life, and if they so much as try to infiltrate my wedding (I have stated I wanted it in LA), they will be greeted by the LAPD.

I fear I may go insane if they keep riding my butt like this; they have given me more angst than love. I know they are concerned, from my POV they are obstructing me; and not helping me is my Homer Simpson-like brain (I'm lazy/incompetent and whatnot).

And try to keep this civil; no comments of ridicule, PLEASE.

Good luck with all that. I married into an Asian family, and while I know that Koreans and Filipinos are not the same, there is this intense desire by the first-generation folks to retain the Asian tradition of "Filial Piety"; often to the point where a decent child who moves out in his or her 20's is rebuked for running away from home and being disrespectful.

You have my sympathy on this.

I am also close enough to put my finger on the pulse of 'filial piety' - the Cambodians I know aren't that much different, a mutual acquaintance of mine is in her mid-30s(!) and is seen as abandoning her family as the eldest daughter, even though the father had left home early in her childhood.

I expect you do realize however, that if you file a protective order against your parents, it also means you can't accept rides and financial help from them.

And they've partially cut me off already as it is, so....

I just feel that they always have to be obsessed with me, like the Feds with Jason Grimsley in 2006.......... UGH. I hate THAT; and is one reason why I want an NCO against them.
