Diagnosed with mild AS in my late teens, I go through different passions and obsessions, which change over time.

I've been "between passions" for almost a year now. It feels like my life has no direction, and I'm just living day-to-day until something "new" demands my interest again.

Do you ever feel this way, too? (anyone?) How do you renew the passion in your life?

Yes, and I don't know how to get past it. In my case, my life sucks at this moment and, until I can resolve my real-world situation, I don't think I can move on to a new passion. It's like a prison, or like an obsession imposed on me.

I am more obsessive than most people here, (just imagine that  ) so i can't really relate.

However, I do have ideas.

First idea: try something you've been interested in but never pursued. Maybe it'll spark something.

Second idea: revisit old interests. Sometimes you may find your opinions have changed for betteror worse.

Third idea: get involved with art. At the least an artistic pursuit would keep your mind and hands busy.

I take it back.
I do have an obsession; so lame I won’t tell anyone about it. I guess I could call it an art project. In VERY slow motion. It’ll take months to finish. Even if I finish it, I will never show the final product to anyone. I spend hours every day pecking at it, rearranging, planning next moves. And I spend hours just looking at it, without doing or thinking or planning anything, just because I like the way it looks. I think it’s therapeutic, but I wouldn’t try to defend it to a shrink.
I suppose that qualifies.

Dude, I enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and I'm a 17 year old male. You like what you like. If you deny people knowledge on your interests and what you contribute to the world, you get nowhere.

Yeah, I don't have any obsessive interests right now........well, not as obsessive as they have been for me in the past. You'll find another one in time, OP. :)

Sometimes it feels like the interest finds me...be open to new stuff - don't worry, something will appear. Ask yourself, what's important now? That can be a key - if you keep drawing a blank...that's a key as well.

The 'in between time' is sort of when I surface from the depths of a passion, take a breath, look about with wonder and curiosity - then I 'see it' (whatever 'it' is - can be an old 'it' or a new one)) and dive back in.

I have many interests that I simply lack the time to pursue 'obsessively', otherwise I would.

Well, special interests can change. Mine do all the time. In fact, I recently switched from Dragon Age to Zero Escape, and even more recently to Persona*, along with my various focal talents (I'm usually only into one at a time; currently, it's voice acting). U:

*Which... all happen to be video games. orz

I have never had a "special interest". I'll take up a hobby if I like the look if it, but I won't get obsessed. Even though you are not currently obsessing over something, doesn't mean you can't still do things and feel good about them. There are plenty of activities you can do for "fun" rather than "passion" and I think that's just as valid.

Is it that important to have such passion in your life? I think I get by okay. If a special interest was that important, I'd be screwed, as would the majority of NTs out there.

I'm in the process of giving up my current obsession, I realized it's shutting me in and it's not healthy for me. I'm at a total loss of what to do with myself, I feel empty without it already. But I went to the bookstore today and bought a few books about things I'm interested in that I've never really read about, so I'm hoping that will spark something. I also bought a cookbook and I'm going to cook a nice dinner for my family just so I can surround myself with people to take my mind off being totally directionless.
