I've been depressed for a few weeks quite badly. Now I've quit school because it was too hard and broken up with my partner of nearly 10 years. I'm on new meds that make me sleep all the time and I don't know how I feel. I know I don't feel good about my life, but I feel kind of numbed. I'm scared of the feelings that I'm sure will come eventually but I don't like this numb feeling either. It's like I don't care about anything at all. I want to cry but I can't. I've never experienced this before and I'm not sure what to do.

Wow. Sounds like your depression might be worsening. I guess you should let your doctor know exactly what's going on. Maybe they'll up your dose or change your meds altogether. Psychiatry isn't an exact science. I wish it was.

Thank you for replying, it helps me feel a little less alone. Living alone with my cat has been difficult. I'm glad I have my cat, but I worry what to do with him if I ever get hospitalized. I see my case worker in a little over a week, my psychiatrist in just under a month. I just have to keep going, one foot in front of the other I suppose. I miss my fiancee, ex-fiancee... but he wasn't supportive and it hurt me deeply, and still I miss him. He was also my only friend. I feel lost and unsure about the future.

This is exactly where I was around this time last year, nearly identical situations.
I'd love to tell you that it gets better, and it does in some ways.. but personally I'm still alone all the time (although I'm 'asocial' so it doesn't bother me much - I assume it would upset you)
I have managed to get back to school though, and get over losing my ex-fiance, it takes time and a lot of emotional battles with yourself... but you'll get there.

I'm terrible with empathy and comforting people, but good luck :)
