So today I was all set to make a wonderfully awesome, delicious, and healthy Indian lunch. When I went into the kitchen to get everything ready, I couldn't find the rubber ring that goes in my pressure cooker. I am always exhausted due to medical problems, but I put forth the effort to search high and low for that gasket because I was happy about cooking today. Well, I couldn't find it. My dad put it somewhere I couldn't find. I have terrible eyesight b/c I am going blind and he often will move my stuff around where I can't find it. It's okay, he didn't do it on purpose and I'll mention it later, but I sat on the floor, exhausted, and cried. I was frustrated and also disappointed that my wonderfully awesome lunch plan fell through. I make a big to-do about taking care of my body because I'm always sick.... but anyway, after I had my mini-breakdown, I just got up an made some Korean dish.

I don't know, is it weird that had an emotional outburst over something so small?

NO, because it is not small and it is not something.

It wasn't really small though, it was your plan for the day that got changed without warning (and with the added frustration of not finding the gasket). Been there.

No, I think I can understand how you feel, not being able to do that at all after working so hard on everything. It's hard to feel like all that effort went to waste, and then there's the disappointment of not being able to enjoy the fruits of your labors.

I'm sorry about that, and if you've found the ring now, hopefully you'll be able to plan to do it another time soon instead. I hope you enjoy(ed) both lunches.

Thanks for your replies. It helps to know that others have felt the same way.

No, that's not irrational nor is it a small thing. I'd probably be crying too if it were me.

So, after politely asking if he'd seen it around and explaining that I'd searched but couldn't find it since I can't see too well, he tells me to look again and doesn't offer to help.

I hope I can live on my own again sometime soon.

:(

Could the dishwasher have eaten it or something?

I hope so too, living alone definitely has a lot to recommend it.

I never put it in the dishwasher. But who knows where I'll find it. I will just buy a replacement since I still can't find it.

So later on last evening, I found the rice cakes in a kitchen drawer. I had meant to put them back in the refrigerator after cooking, but somehow I put them in the drawer without realizing and didn't discover them until dinner, when I was searching for a utensil. Luckily, it wasn't long enough for them to spoil.

Maybe I put the gasket in a weird place, too. This has been happening more frequently over the past few years. :(

Given that you are dealing with several chronic illnesses and some major life changes right now, I think it would have been super-human of you not to have gotten upset over something like that. Please don't be too hard on yourself!
