I'm trying to put this in perspective. From where I live, a 3 hour commute by bus should take me to Olympia or Bellingham. That's pretty far for a job. This gives you:

6 hours commute
8 hours job
8 hours sleep time
= 2 hours to yourself every day. Definitely NOT quality time.

BTW, I did do the extra long commute when I lived in NYC. By train, it took me nearly 3 hours to go from the Upper East Side to Far Rockaway, Queens. I felt like I was going to lose my mind. I had no choice at the time because there were no LPN jobs in NYC and they were plentiful in Far Rockaway.

Honestly, I think the best thing to do would be not take that job. That sort of situation can stress out an NT and is just asking for trouble as an Aspie. The alone on a bench part is not good either. Safety first.

If you absolutely had to do something like that, I would suggest an array of diversions, like books to read (library) a taped device, IPOD, whatever, that can play books on tape/CD and music. Also sleeping, but need IPOD or something with alarm to wake you so don't miss stop. Cell phone & mace. Not the medieval spiked ball thing, but the spray. I guess also called pepper spray.
