I have a hard time functioning these days. I think a variety of factors have made my depression and Asperger's worse. It actually prevents me from addressing my PTSD.

Instead of jumping I'm front of a train, I want to take a leave of absence from law school to live in Thailand fairly near Singapore. I want to investigate new stem cell technology first hand, learn some Buddhist meditation, and try cheap new medications and natural stuff that's hard to get here.

It's hard to do anything here because I'm always either in school or have a regular job, and life in the us is quite stressful.

What would I do not to starve? Teach English or SAT and trade stocks.
I have lived abroad in Asia before. But now, I kind of need an escape from modern demands. And Singapore/Thailand are popular for medical tourism with very good technology.

An I stupid? I mean, I'll probably commit suicide if I can't escape.

I know that feeling. It's probably not good to put yourself through a trap door that you can never come back from though. Have you even found a therapist at your current location? Please don't give up.

How could I never come back?

I've had an awful time finding a psychiatrist, how do people with normal jobs even schedule appointments?

Don't NT's take "vacations" and sabbaticals?
It's probably OK for you to too.

If you are ever too close to the edge...

Escape to my house.

We can eat Thai food and watch Thai horror movies.

Let's have a DUDE-BRO WEEKEND.

I have a bad taste in my mouth about Thailand, but that's only because of my friend Darlene. I dated her brother right after I left my ex husband and that's how I got to know her. She actually got me the job at the gas station where I met my husband now. She married this guy from Thailand back in the late 70s. She went with him over there several times but they lived in Birmingham, in Homewood and she had two little girls. She went over there with him after the youngest was born and they stayed on a several months visit. She told me why she didn't like it, cause they did ladies like crap over there. Her MIL used to fuss at her for walking ahead of her husband when they went shopping. Well, she got ready to come home and he wanted to stay another month or so and she told him ok and that it was ok with her if he kept the girls there with them to see their grandparents and he would bring them back when he came home. Well, he didn't come home for about two years!

She finally got her kids back and when they came home, they couldn't speak English! She ended up marrying another guy from there though, so I don't know. But from her experiences I just don't like the place. I know that's judging harshly and based on one or two people's experiences, but it's the only one I know about it.

If you go, be careful.

Although, I hear that one night in Bangcok and the world's your oyster..... ;-)

I don't know, exactly, but we could improvise.

I know. More like in a hilariously and lovably awkward way, which makes me want to flirt and say awkward things of my own.

I am pretty good at taking care of myself in dangerous third world countries. I lived in Harbin of all places, one of the homes of the Russian and Chinese mafias, and I traveled to Indonesia when there was civil unrest and once got arrested for accidently going on the wrong bridge. I was traveling with a Japanese girl, and they tried to force her to wear a veil. Yes, it was that bad. They threatened to lock us up, but finally let us go. Pretty sure Thailand is much safer than Indonesia.

I am going, if I go, for the stem cell options, not for the women. If I was going somewhere for women, it would be one of the following:

Russia
Finland (introverts)
Mongolia
Latvia/Lithuania/Estonia/Belarus
Buenas Aires
Harbin, China

I've got a buddy who used to be a "therapist" in Thailand, but he was really sort of a scam-artist

I'm pretty convinced that "therapists" in the United States are scam artists also.

Anyway, the safest stem cell clinics are likely in Singapore. But Singapore is quite expensive to live in. Especially housing. Singapore is capitalism in the extreme, but they turned most of the island into a nature preserve. Housing is like more expensive than many large U.S. cities as a result.

Unless I could get an actual law firm job there (unlikely), it would be better to live in Thailand and either investigate the Thai clinics or the Singaporean ones just a few hours away from Phuket.
