I just spent my whole day studying, running errands, in a videoconference, doing dishes and looking for kitchen tools. All my real obligations, apart from the videoconference, lie with friends about a thousand miles away, and I was forced to push those back three weeks because my folks tend to buy cheap plane tickets without remembering I actually do have a personal life. That also makes nearly a month of flying on my part this year, as a result everything I'm honestly thankful for is in the realm of the technological and the socioeconomic, as opposed to the biological and social. At least I'm in a nice house without bright lights or loud societal noises, so I kind of think we're all missing the point of the celebration a bit.
Also, just perhaps, there's a chance we should be spending our time protesting corporate oil land grabs, if indeed we're truly thankful for the company of all parties in this country.
