Just wondering how often you guys get it, and how you deal with it. One of the ways I deal with it is to get up and walk around.

I don't deal with it, I just wait until it passes. Not much I can do about it other than doing things to take my mind off of whatever I'm anxious about, but I don't call that dealing with it, that's just pushing it into the corner and ignoring it.

Deep breathing can help(I have a habit of holding my breath and freezing when most stressed)Stretching helps relieve some of the muscle lock up,rubbing my shoulders.I think these are "acceptable stimming" in some ways.Basically realize that your body has released chemicals to tell your body to fight or flight ,whih is not often appropriate or possible to the situation,Read about how adrenaline effects the system and try and counter the effects by "undoing" the message....thats what the muscle stretch, massage, breathing does.It tells your body to relax, there is nothing to worry about. If thoughts are also stressing you,you can try and bring a diverting object with you at all tmies...something to rub, squeeze ball, for me Saduko is very effective.

I just googled autism and anxiety and there are some very good sites there for further suggestions. It is very common.

I get anxiety A LOT at school.

I just try and think of thoughts less angst-ridden and try to relax and get my mind of those thoughts.
