The government clinic provided me the diagnosis on Asperger and there is a counsellor for 30min every month. They intend to pass my case to a non-profit organization specialized on adult asperger cases. I waited for half a year and interviewed with the psychologist there and a month later, they told they won't accept my case because my profile is quite unique from their cases on hand and they feel they cannot provide the appropriate services. In fact, all I need is a counsellor to provide me with social skills training and body language coaching. I don't see why they cannot provide such service. I am very upset because that is the only specialized service in HK for adult aspies, and their cost is lower because it is funded by charities. Now, they have rejected me. So I can only rely on that 30min per month counselling from the govt. I mean there are a lot of counselling service in HK but I prefer to be counselled by people who truly understand Aspies. I am so frustrated because I have high hope to get improved once my case get to the organisation. The psychologist was very upset because I put some of their general info on my blog without their permission. I removed right away when I was told it is not appropriate. I guess there is no point asking the same psychologist (she is the only one there) to give me any service, if she is so easily irritated from someone with Asperger. That's the whole point with Asperger isn't it, our mind are less flexible than others, that's why I need therapy. So her "therapy" actually makes me upset and frustrated, just because my case is very unique and probably too high functioning for her. (I suspect)

Might you be able to afford paying yourself, for that non-profit organizations services? Its not fair to have been denied the service, but it might be a way to continue the training you would like to get. In the USA there are quite a few situations where you can end up paying yourself for various things, because all the health plans do not cover many things, like anything new or non-standard. It can really get ridiculus at times. For instance in my family I have had to pay for treatments for Fibromyalgia, TMJ, Acupuncture, etc. The main thing is to get the treatment/services.

Ya, I think eventually I will need to be pick up the social skills learning on my own. Unfortunately, in Hong Kong, there are no other specialized services for adult Asperger except that organisation. I agree with your point, that my case is non-standard, that's why they rather than specially design something new for me, then prefer not to take my case, although I think it is in their ability to be able to help. I just feel frustrated that the whole point of their organisation is to help people like me, and they don't have the heart to go extra miles to help a special case. Luckily, I was high functioning enough to build my own support group and can learn the skills on my own. It just unfair that's all. Well, even they decided to take my case now, I won't go with the organisation because they simply don't have the heart to serve the people in need even that's a non-standard case.
