Tonight is a really bad night for some reason. It's extra cold here and she would normally be on my lap, cuddling, or on my feet, keeping them warm, depending on how cold she was herself. I keep seeing her little chin when she would snarfle on the couch, rolling on it, rubbing her head into the crack of the arm and the seat. I would start rubbing her belly, tickling, and blowing raspberries on her chin and neck and she would tussle and play, pretending to want to get free but not really trying, just trying to give me sloppy kisses while she tussled.

Sometimes I would kiss her little pink chin and she would sneeze. She was such a happy baby. I miss my little Bonnie so much tonight.

It hurts so much.

She must have been a wonderful companion. Mine was a black-and-tan dachshund, and I've never met another one like her. It's been over 40 years since her passing, and I've never owned another dog since.

I still miss her, too.

She was a good companion. The best I've ever met.

I'm sorry, losing a pet (bear with me) can be hard, and from the sounds of it. Bonnie was more for you than that. Time shall heal all wounds, that's all I can say.

It does get better with time. Its just sometimes it takes awhile.Things that remind us of them make it harder.Today when I had a basket of warm laundry from the dryer I remembered
how my old Iguana loved to climb in the basket with the clothes since they were good and warm.He also liked to lay under the wood heater. He looked so funny laying there. It still makes me sad,but it's a happy memory also. He's been gone over a year, but I still miss him every day.

:( I didn't see your post until today, Monday. I am sorry you are having a wave of sadness and missing Bonnie. I still have those from time to time about my be-loved dog - even though he was killed by a truck way back in 1992. I miss him. He seemed to understand me and my ways, for example when I am upset I need to move around, and he would go running with me at all hours, no matter where. For me, I don't think I will ever feel better, it just slides under the surface of everything until the next time.
I have only had cats since he died. I love them too, so they help a lot.
I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you.

I wish I had a place to go running/walking. We live in the country and there is no safe place on these dangerous highways. I know Lacy, my other dog, would go with me, and even Carly, a dog that we rescued while Bonnie was with us, would probably love the odd hour runs. They have a walking trail 6 miles away but the police tend to arrest anyone on it after dark. :/.

That's how it seems. It slides under the surface for a while, then comes to the top at unexpected moments.
