It's been about a year since I got this cavity in my back molar. Now like a b***h named Hillary Clinton, it has erupted from hell. In addition to the tremendous amount of pain, an inability to consume even the softest of foods, It also may have infected my gums and may now be causing them to swell up!

I can't get into a dentist till monday :( f*****g holidays, if it gets even the slightest worse though I'm going to the ER. That's pretty much all I have to say, it's pretty much how I spent Christmas.

the ER can give you antibiotics and pain meds - not a bad option.

Both my mom and grandmother are already sharing there pain meds with me. Some antibiotics might help a lot though. In addition my Grandmother does acupressure which really helps relieve pain both spiritually and physically

I do not know what pain meds you are on, be careful to avoid overdosing on paracetamol as it is very toxic to the liver in overdoses.

I would try to get to a dentist as soon as you can

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

I've been in this situation before. It sounds like it could be a tooth abscess, which would likely require a root canal.

God I hope not, my roots are messed up enough looking as it is, a root canal would just be painful and difficult.

If you live near an aquarium supply place you can run in for a bottle of Amoxicillin. Pain wise all I can suggest is a couple of swigs of Nyquil but again it has acetaminophen in it but hey if it helps you get some sleep. I've not tried the Nyquil myself for toothaches but the pain is purported to be worse than passing a kidney stone or childbirth. I haven't done either but I can believe it, toothaches are HELL I do know that - BTDT

If your tooth is abscessed, then getting a root canal is nothing in comparison. Antibiotics will clear up pain and swelling almost right away, and will be much more effective than just pain meds. Once a crown is on your tooth afterwards, it's barely noticeable.

Every time I went to the dentist they just pulled whichever tooth was bothering me. I have 2 right now that need to be pulled. One is broken and one has a huge cavity on the side.

Try and get a mouthwash that contains cloves in the ingredients.

It might help numb the pain for a short while.

Got back from the ER turns out you guys is right, it's an abscessed tooth that has infected my lower jaw all the way up to my right ear:(

I got prescribed some antibiotics, and some vicodin for the pain. I won't be able to see a dentist till tomorrow, though I doubt they'll actually do anything, not with the entire right half of my face swelling up like a balloon.

Aw, you must be in total agony. I hope the pain killers help you to get some rest.
