I let my house turn into a nightmare. My kitchen is infested with maggots as I type this. My living room WAS a tip, and is still fairly messy, but I've gotten a fair bit of the rubbish up so far. Hopefully by this evening/tomorrow I should have the place looking good again (admittedly when I got the place it was a dump and smelt of cat urine, but that's no excuse for me letting things get this bad).

I just want to get it to the state where I can invite people over. And I've gotten a fair bit done this morning, but I still feel like crap and like this whole mess is insurmoutable. And yes, I know if I clean things up every day that it won't get this bad, I don't need to be told. I'm in a cycle where I clean everything up and things look okay for a day or three, but then everything falls apart and I have to start again.

I just need a temporary cheer squad at the moment.

It is slow going isn't it? I reckon my loungeroom is about 80% done, then I need to vacuum. Then once that's done I need to do the front hall, the kitchen and finally fold all the clean clothes in my room and put them away, and wash all the other stuff. It's a tiny place, but it gets messy!

I reckon I can get the lounge and one of the other rooms done today. Every so often I come back to my computer and take a breather and look at what I've done so far. I can definitely see light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's the video that got me going in the first place, I've been planning to do this for weeks.

When I get depressed I get huge stacks of dishes.I can't imagine how one person can make such a mess. Then there is dusting, you do it ,and it needs doing again in a few days. And how does it get under a bed? When I get it clean I feel good about it,but it's hard to keep it that way.I tackle it room by room, starting with the smallest room. Then I feel encouraged to continue.I really dislike housework,I'd rather mow the lawn than do dishes any day.
Congrats on the progress you have made cleaning.

Loungeroom 90% done and vacuumed. Plus a load of washing put on (basically everything that was lying around the loungeroom).

I do like the instant gratification that vacuuming can bring. After this it's a toss up between the two worst rooms, the front hall or the kitchen. I'm thinking kitchen first. Ugh.

Well, it'll never feature in Better Homes and Gardens, but it's now up to an acceptable standard. Now to take a breather and steel myself for the massive task that is the kitchen and front hall. Then the bedroom.

Part of me is wondering why I even bother, it'll be a nightmare again in a few days anyway because I'm a lazy sod...

Hung out a load of washing. Dripping with sweat right now though, 33 degrees celsius/92 degrees fahrenheit right now, and no airconditioning!

Front hall 50% done. Unfortunately I think one of my cats has used it as a toilet. I'll need to go and get some carpet cleaner.

Got the carpet cleaner, now letting it do its thing. I think after I finish the front hall I'll call it a day.

Got a bag of ice too, can rest my feet above it (can't really touch ice directly, I'm very, very sensitive to the cold!).

Aspies have a problem with procrastination. But you can overcome it one thing at a time, especially when its important. Don't let yourself go backwards from living on your own. Chores are one of your jobs and like all jobs they just have to be done or bad things happen. Make some kind of plan that forces you to do your chores once a day. Just as a hyperthetical example: In the morning after your wake up routine, do not let youself relax, go on computer, etc until chores are done. If morning is too early, then schedule it after lunch or whatever. Thing is do it every day and it won't take long at that point anyway.

But good work defeating the mess monster.

I just folded the clean laundry thats been sitting in a bin in the middle of my room for a week. I was missing a hanger... still annoyed about that. I cleaned the bathroom and I'm starting to consider moving things off of my workout mat and doing some exercise. CONSIDERING! Your post made me more productive slightly, so thanks!
