I know this isn't autism related, but I have a good NT friend I work with, he's gotten addicted to heroine. He came to me crying, telling me he had a problem..... Well, the law won't lock him in the clinic, and he's 19 so he can sign himself out. I dunno what to do, I don't want my friend to die.... *sigh*....... I've been through drug addictions myself (not heroine, but still though), I know it's hard to kick. I did it, I know he can too..... Atleast I hope so.
Please don't anyone write some crap "it's his fault he shouldn't have done it in the first place", people make mistakes. He is a human being, and he is my friend. If you have something negative to say, then f**k off.

I'm terribly worried...... I can feel his pain and suffering, though sometimes i wish I didn't. Should we lock him in the basement until he's kicked his addiction? This is something i've thought about doing. He does want to stop, he's just not able to find the will power.... I'm afraid if I don't lock him away he might die

If he does not want to quit, then there is nothing you can really do.

If he does want to quit, then you should arrange with him the methodology in advance & be sure to carry it out despite his protestations.
Locking him in the basement is not too bad an idea. Probably the only thing that would work. Without 24 hour supervision he would be likely to drop all notions of quiting and escape to score. Do not do this without his consent and be prepared for the consequences.

edit: If he is only 19 it may not be so bad.

Dude I came here to get advice, not seek a lecture from some holier-than-thou know-it-all. Don't pass judgement on people without walking in their shoes. Your pissing me off. My friend is in a fight for his life, this is alittle more important than stroking your ego. Please stop posting in this thread, Kosmonaut your ok.

Yeah, and you said you've done heroine, I guess that makes you dumb too. Dude f**k off, I don't need your holier-than-thou arrogance, I'm trying to help someone who needs help. And before you keep judging people, just wait until it's somebody YOU know, a friend or relative.

Now can we edit this fuckwad off my thread, please? Only write if you are offering positive advice.

now its holier than thou arragance? i thought it was holier than though know it all. here's some holier than thou everything. your friend needs a swift kick in the ass, maybe instead making a topic about it on a message board you should sit down and talk to him. if its bothering you that much jesus.
