Upon disclosure, I understand it can be common to experience reactions in others that run the gamut from indifference to shock to disbelief to denial. Lack of understanding and acceptance or support from those closest to us is not only depressing and angering, it is a disappointment. I am reading up on folks experiences, coping, and various ways to overcome (through education or acceptance)...
It is not always surprising, but indeed does not exactly foster faith in humanity, let alone the ones who are supposed to be closest to us. :(

I know exactly what you mean, and the only solution I have found for this problem are cats. 42 of them if you can afford it. I'm not being facetious. I've turned my back on humanity in general and my family in particular, and decided to spend the second half of my life surrounded by creatures that actually care about me. Or at least seem to care. Even if I'm just a walking can opener to them, they're still cute and fluffy :) Which is more than can be said about humans.

I know what you mean. I would do anything to have a supportive family. I would settle for a normal family with parents that were not narcissistic, abusive brutes.

I agree about cats - they are amazingly supportive little angels. I really love them. They are like guardian angels.
