sleep at night instead of spending such large parts of it crying and resenting my own consciousness.

Not being able to sleep is not something good.

Sleeping habits are hard to change. If you can slowly make the day more busy and active, including physically it will help make the shift. There are meds also available if you get a doctors help.

I'm really very down at the moment, which makes it hard to make changes. I use zopiclone once or twice a week, otherwise I get 3 - 5 hours sleep, which isn't enough.

You may have already looked at this, but just in case... How do you make the transistion from being awake to going to sleep?

It does seem to help if you can do things to relax the body and quiet the mind. Some things that work for me have been: taking a warm shower, playing a no-brainer game on the computer, reading a book just a little in bed when you lay down in bed.

i know how you feel. i now find meditating at night is beautiful. just no-think.
