I've been seeing this a lot on Deviant Art where people would make stamps that attack all of us who still are scarred from the events of 9/11 and get butt hurt over any joke. Hell I even ask one of the stamp makers how long it'd be before he or she starts making jokes about the Connecticut shooting and I got a reply "In ten years". What the f*****g hell ?

I don't understand how anyone could make these jokes even after seeing or remembering people committing suicide in an alternative of being burnt alive :( Yeah, maybe I'm not being butt hurt ! Maybe I actually respect the dead because I know that I will be dead one day and could die at any moment out of my control! f*****g KIDS NEED TO SHOW SOME GODDAMN RESPECT AND GET SPANKED OR f*****g BEATEN TO STRAIGHTEN THEIR MOTHER f*****g BRATTY ASSES OUT !

Ugh, I especially hate the responses that the whole holocaust happened years ago and nobody still cries over that! Oh Jesus f*****g Christ, I must be a butt-hurt little whiny b***h because I respect all of those who died at the time and respect the survivors !

It's just like those little f*****g brats who actually made fun of the kid who committed suicide over an Ipod and under the delusion that theirs no accountability to prank call the family or take images of his grave with an Ipod! f*****g little p*****s are what they are ! You heard me! YOU f*****g LITTLE SPINELESS AND HEARTLESS TROLLS WHO ARE p*****s! You don't have the balls to disrespect the family and face the consequences for your heinous actions ! YOU f*****g p*****s!

People really do piss me the f**k off at times, especially little anonymous p*****s who are trolls ! I needed to get this off of my chest and is only some of the things that is causing me misery and anger :( What do those who disrespect the dead are so afraid to die ? Just because you young doesn't make you invincible you anonymous little internet p**** !

When I saw the title I was actually thinking how dumb it is to respect the dead because we sure keep talking about Hitler and other evil people out there who are now dead and we continue to talk about them in textbooks and in school and in documentaries. Also I don't think victims should be silenced when their abuser dies or rapist or their bully. But see your post I see it was about something different. All those innocent people died in the 9/11 incident and they had no choice but to either burn alive or fall to their death which is a lot quicker and probably painless.

Because feeling disheartened by every person that has ever suffered and died in all of human history is a totally pointless exercise, one that does no good for the deceased and fills me with anguish. What, exactly, is the point of that? All I see when someone demands that I mourn the dead is someone demanding that I suffer because others suffered.

Isn't the answer to this question obvious? It's the internet.

It's the damn internet, if you can't handle it, stay off it. People say those things online for two reasons - they want an emotional reaction, and they don't have the inner fortitude to get one in real life. Do you see people laughing at sandy hook or 9/11 in person, ever? No. Do you know why? Because someone would destroy them. But not online, No. Because they can't - the offender is hidden somewhere behind a monitor. A lot of people don't feel power in their lives, being a douche on the internet gives them that power. I would honestly doubt they feel that way in the slightest about sandy hook victims or their families, they just want to see someone get mad.

Wow, really ? This place I'm at, this right here is the internet, you don't say ! This is the place where anyone could say whatever the f**k they want and not be accountable for it ? Oh my God, do go on 8O

Maybe I'm pissed of at cowards and trolls and though that other people on here might agree with me that people are becoming little p*****s behind their monitors and that they all should grow up and treat one another like you would in real life!

Gee don't worry, it'll take you a few brain fluctuations to fully comprehend what I'm talking about, depending on intelligence of course ...

"Disrespecting the dead" is a concept that I think has its roots in religion, since many religions include beliefs about souls and an afterlife, so by many people's beliefs, when a person dies they are not "truly" dead, their physical bodies just no longer function. Going further, the reason why people continue to have these beliefs oftentimes is because they simply don't want to accept what death truly is; the ceasing of all function in the human body, including the mental functioning that makes a person who they "are" in the first place.

Now, I'm not a big fan of trashing people's legacies after they die, though I see this as something separate from disrespecting the people themselves, as you can't really hurt the feelings of someone whose brain has ceased functioning. That being said, when it comes to recently-dead celebrities, I tend to crack jokes and laugh at the ones other people crack. Why? Because celebrities and their legacies are extremely hard to imagine as being "real". If one of my best friends I knew in real life died, I would be devastated, and I wouldn't be willing to laugh at how they died. If random celebrity X died, and I never knew them in person, chances are the next day I'll go up to one of my friends and be like "why did X celebrity cross the road? *insert punchline here*".

While you can attempt to dismiss it with sarcasm, I did present a legitimate question. What exactly is the point? Why must we mourn tragedies that, for the most part, don't affect us? How long must the mourning last? And why such a largely U.S.-centric view of suffering? 26 six people died in Newtown that day. However, at least 26 people have died in the U.S. just in the time it took me to write this post. Nearly 3000 people died on 9/11. And yet, 30,000 people on this planet finally starved to death yesterday, with another 30,000 every single day since 9/11. Since 9/11, approximately 131,400,000 people have died of starvation, which is the equivalent of 43,800 9/11's. So you'll have to forgive me if I think it's somewhat disrespectful to be so be so totally focused on an American tragedy that happened over 12 years ago whilst being either ignorant or apathetic about the exponentially larger suffering in the world as a whole.

I want alcohol right now and don't care for food :( Hell I could happily deal with the fact of having no money and being if I have better escapism than the internet! I need my alcohol !

I wish I could've drowned my sorrows in the bottle but I happen to have a cloth stomach, as it were, and cannot tolerate more than a token amount of alcohol or anything with alcohol in it. :hmph: so I had to find other ways to cope.

Chill, dude. The Autism Spectrum is called a spectrum for a reason; there are people on it who range from not even being able to feed themselves without assistance, to geniuses who head multi-billion dollar companies. Most of us are somewhere in the middle, as otherwise ordinary people who just happen to have some neurological differences from the general population. Some of these neurological differences are minor, others cause us issues with things like abstract thought, executive functioning, sensory perception, verbal communication, and social interaction.
