Recently I have been working on a story for my friend, I have completed most of it. Yet not many people have commented on it on Deviantart, nor on here when I post it in the Art and Literature section on this site. I am not asking to be famous or anything like that, but when people do not even tell me what they think of my stories I cannot strive to make it better. I tried some other sites for literature, but the same thing still happens. I feel like I just should give up.

Do you enjoy writing? You can keep on writing and keep it for yourself and only share it with those who want to read it such as your online friends or anyone who tells you they want to read it. But I know the feeling of writing and not getting any comments for it but yet you see others getting comments on their stories, even if they are more poorly written than yours or shorter or use the same theme as yours.

I just wish I knew what others thought of it. Is it good, is it bad? Does it need work? I do not know!

I think it would help you a lot if you found a group of people either online or in person who are committed to reading each others writing. Try meetup or Yahoo groups. That way it won't have to sit around hoping somebody will find it and give you feedback, you will be sure to get some. Just don't ask for it if you don't want it because will be honest.

Finish it and try submitting it for publication or go on Amazon and self publish.

The ideas about writers groups are good too. In reality, posting a story online for review is always going to a "your mileage may vary" kind of deal.

You can always strive to make your writing better with or without feedback from others. There are free articles, theories, grammar instructions, and discussion boards online.

One of the most motivating I've found is about not writing to be seen and reconnecting with the love of writing itself:

I do understand the feeling of being ignored, but there's something freeing about not anxiously waiting on the final judgment of others to tell you if your effort was well-spent.
