Since I was in my teen years I have always been distracted while driving by mile markers. Now I have been noticing new ones that are about every 1/8 of a mile. Why can't the DOT be satisfied with 1 mile? Every one eighth of a mile seems a bit excessive. It would not matter so much to me if I did not find them so distracting. I'm not sure why I need to look at them and now there's more of them. It looks like I will be avoiding the interstate system as much as possible. Does any one else look at mile markers?

noticing the mile markers is actually a really great habit to be in. If you ever get in trouble and need to call for help knowing where you are will ensure you get help quickly.
