I've been working pretty hard at school and my Asian dad is irritable when his children come home and it's like this.

Sister: You got a B+????
Me: You got a B and you don't tell me what you are doing at school??
Brother: You got a C????! !! That's basically failure!

This is with the amount of work that's being stacked by my teachers.

I just honestly wish people wouldn't rage about grades and I could at least do my work and be accomplished because I did it.

I always hated graded assignments in school and my parents reactions to them. That whole grade thing can be stressful.

sadly it doesn't change as you get older. When you start working for a living you will realize that you are being judged/graded non-stop. If you perform "average" you will never get promoted.. you will come out of college making poverty wages and it will never improve. School is a little sample taste of what working life will be like... better get used to it.

Better than what I got.

The next week
Me : I got an a+

The next week.
Me : I'll stop trying then
Mother : meh

Me depressed because no one gives a crap : I got an f

I gave up the day that I realised I didn't care about the opinions of others, and the only person whose opinion mattered couldn't care less. I even tell her how much it affected me and It's still meaningless to her.

Can't be a totally weird experience here, aspies can be extremely self centred and some must have had aspies as parents like I did.

The op doesn't know how lucky he is. I'd have killed for a parent that gave a crap.

You just want to be free to be lazy really. I recognise the impulse. I know how it feels. I just don't think you realise how valuable the gift of your parents being interested in you doing well is. You'll appreciate it when you're older and you've inherited the ability to push yourself just because it's become second nature. Personally I had to learn it myself and it came a lot harder.
