I have seen that before and can somewhat relate, except I don't quite get why a black dog was chosen to represent depression, dogs are awesome animals.

No kidding i like black labs as well and they are awesome animals alweays hyper and happy but alas at times I feel depressed alot.

It sucks I feel like this everyday, it gets bad to the point suicide is the only answer I feel at times.

Depression being referred to as a black dog was how Sir Winston Churchill described his bouts with depression.

Excercise is not my thing.
I prefer gardening.

And paying attention to what I eat.

I'm a cat person though
I only like other people's dogs...

This is so. Why . I cannot fathom. My literal black dog kept me alive for many years until her eventual passing. (I now have a red dog )
black dog foundation has been active in Aus for many years. They had a Black Dog Walk a few years ago, but my poor black dog was so sick we could not attend.

Maybe because of dogs ability to trail something,it would always be behind you,on your trail,"dogging" you.
Black would be for the mood.I wouldn't want the Hound of the Baskervilles on my trail.There are also lots of superstitions about spectral dogs.

My black dog ate my white dog, and follows me around licking his lips and passing wind.

I get by with medication, exercise, marijuana, and a very sick sense of humour.

I walk around with a black dog, too. Or maybe even a black tiger or something. Hard to shake it, though. Follows me everywhere and gets in my way.

Should I take abilify for my depression or stick to marijuana i dont smoke it often but when i do i am calm and dont feel so depressed and my self hating thoughts cease. Alcohol makes me calm too but makes me lazy and if i drink too much it makes me fat LOL!

no. don't take it all calm and depressed. do something creative. do something for yourself, and please don't get too overweight because it adds a whole other dimension of problems.

a lot of us struggle with this. I have demons that you wouldn't want to hear about.
there are bright spots, but a person has to slog through a lot of dark stuff to get there. I know I do. Sometimes it doesn't seem worth it. But it is.
