screwing up today

I made alot of obvious mistakes at work today, one of which is sure to piss off a customer which means he will call back all bent out of shape and I am afraid I will look bad and stupid to of my boss. I was kind of inundated with work today and alot today, which is probably why I made those dumb ass mistakes. This is the first job I have had that which has lasted more than 4 months.

Do not worry too much. Tell your boss what happened, see if you can think of something that will help you mitigate the problem in the future. I did the same thing once to a regular customer who was making a big order. I have trouble hearing over the phone and I made her mad by asking her to repeats herself and trying to clarify if she was wanting boxes or individual items. She was getting frustrated and that change in voice made her harder to hear. It ended with the customer cussing me out and swearing to never shop at the store again, ever.
My boss called the customer back and calmed her down, the customer returned in spite of a bad substitute phone person. I also made mistakes when processing phone and online orders several times, even on occasion months after I knew what to do because I was sleepy or distracted. I just told my boss when it happened "hey on xyz order I missed the x tab" and then she could go into the system and fix it. Eventually I was just given the password to do the fixes myself.
