Anyone else go out of their way to save critters? I take living things out of the house (moths, spiders, etc.) so they can have a chance to live instead of getting eaten by my cats. Here's what we saved tonight:
Our cat came running in from the garage and dropped some thing alive on the living room carpet. I thought it was a giant scorpion, but it wasn't. Then she started doing the (usually fatal) cat chase/play with prey thing. Then, this is while my son and I were scrambling to turn more lights on to see what exactly she had: the tiny creature screamed. We got lights on, and saw it was a small western fence lizard. We quickly worked together - he grabbing the cat and me using my sock to gently pick up the lizard who was now missing it's tail but alive. I put it outside under a nice thick protective cover of a rosemary bush. It was beautiful: we hope it survived its ordeal. I'll never forget that tiny high pitched scream.

I try to. but there's a line and if they cross it they die. I prefer not to kill anything and try to avoid it, but i don't want to get bit.

I move stuff from inside,I use a glass and a peice of paper to catch wasps caught in the window, place the glass over them and slide the paper between them and the glass.Bugs are always getting on the screened in porch somehow,I catch the ones I can and turn outside, some are too tiny and fast.

I do attempt to save things using the glass and card method.
I also have a machine that emits a certain frequency that should, SHOULD stop things coming in through the window but it doesn't seem to work that often.
Only today I lifted a sunhat to put on and a huge moth hit the floor but I managed to eject it through the cat flap unharmed.

There are drawbacks as I once liberated a huge sandfly from the bedroom via the front door and it flew directly into a spiders web, so I aided its untimely death. Thankfully my cat no longer takes things in.

I do try to move insects using a magazine (reading material) and a glass. Once on my way home I accidently kicked a hedgehog which I didn't know about until its prickles pricked me through my trainers so I picked up the hedgehog and put it safely inside a small bush to calm down or sleep. back in 2005

If it's a mosquito, no I kill those. But with everything else, yes, I either get it in my hands or use a container with a piece of paper slipped under it, and put it outside. I don't like to kill something unless it's actively harming me (like mosquitos biting). I have saved scorpions and put them outside, daddy long legs and other spiders, geckos, etc.

I loved spiders, but my mother caused me to have a paralyzing fear of them. I attempt to save them, but if they move fast, they get the shoe 50 times. I wish I was joking with the amount, but I'm not...

I love reptiles. They all tend to like me and not bite me when they hate everyone else. 8)
