This is something that I have a hard time understanding. How do people manage to get really good grades, figure out what they want to do in life, hold a job and support a family, earn a degree, deal with various changes in their lives, manage their finances, balance a checkbook, keep their homes up, maintain friendships and relationships, and multitask? I don't understand how people manage to lead such happy, successful lives. Success for me is just getting through the day. Successful people act like life is just a piece of cake. I don't understand how people find their strengths. I can only find my weaknesses.

You don't have to multitask. Just do one thing at a time.

1) grades
2) job
3) relationships
4) balancing finances
5) family
........................etc

I don't want to get married or have kids. I know that you don't do all the things that I mentioned at once, but I can barely do any of them even if I tried one of them at a time. How does life come so easy to some people? I just don't understand it. How things that seem impossible for me come easy to others.

I think most are good at hiding stress...and others just wing it or are careless.

Happiness and success don't always go hand in hand. You can be pretty successful and still be unhappy. I think one's attitude plays a major role in life.

It's possible that your perception of those who have it all is skewed. Maybe if you spent a week with them, you'll eventually see that life isn't really a piece of cake for a lot of people.

MSBKyle: I have the same questions as you, despite a lot of years. Try and not let things get too complicated, don't attempt to multi-task(!) IMHO, one's strengths are really just those things about one that aren't the weakest points.

I have no f***ing idea, though societies definition of 'success' seems kinda mundane.....the normal life isn't all that appealing to me. I think success should be whatever makes someone satisfied with their life but no its all defined by having a successful 'career' a family, living in a normal suburban neighborhood with normal neighbors, lawns/gardens that all look the same spending their days doing the same thing over and over again. That said I don't see how people function and keep up with all that stuff, but also not so sure living like that is such a good thing.

That stuff doesn't sound appealing to me. I'm defiantly not what others would call successful but I've had problems all my life & known I could never be normal so I tried to go my own path in life that I felt I could manage & would be OK for me. For example I always struggled in school due to dyslexia & having low vision disorder. But I accepted that I s#cked in school & didn't learn from studying so I didn't study & just tried my best in class & had my grades curved to Ds in at least a 4th of em so I passed. The one thing I knew about what I wanted to do with my life was that I didn't want to go to college so I didn't go & after high-school I started looking for whatever job I felt I could do OK & didn't mind doing minimum-wage manual labor stuff like custodial & dish-washing for awhile. Doing OK emotionally is my measurement of success.
