Birthdays used to make me miserable because I couldn't "have a good birthday." In other words, throw a party and invite all my friends and have everyone get rip-roaring drunk and have a great time.
I don't mind birthdays any more, because I realized that it's just another day, just one on which it happens to be somewhat socially sanctioned for me to do, within reason, whatever the f**k I please.
