on top of all my financial problems...

my car just broke down last night and i have no idea how much it's gonna cost to tow it and fix it.

i cried so much my eyes were crusted together this morning.

i'm just really starting to doubt i'll be able to fund myself over the summer to finish my degree.

either way, i'll owe money.

starting to think about disappearing into south america. literally. something about living somewhere where i can't speak and am not expected to understand... appeals to me infinitely.

Sorry to hear that Sedaka, typical isn't it, when we've got a plateful, something else always happens! Maybe the car won't cost too much to fix.
Try and focus on the long term, getting your degree, it's such a worthwhile thing to have, even though it's a struggle funding it.
I don't know what else to say really, except this tough time can't last forever. Hang in there.

Maybe God broke down your car, Sedaka, because otherwise you would have been in a car crash.

There's ALWAYS an optimistic side. Think about that side, it may help.

sorry to hear that, don't assume fixing the car will cost a fortune - no point in assuming the worst, it could be something really minor/inexpensive.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Count your blessings, you have a car, you are attending college almost to the point of having a degree, you have food, & you have a roof over your head.

Just think, you are already better off than 90% of the human race.

Thinking of others misfortune or how much worse my own situaion could be made me thinkful for what i did have.

AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

Good Luck, I am praying for a little good luck to come your way.

May not be that bad. Usually with cars its either fuel not getting thru or an electrical problem. Often a cheap fix.

I remember once driving past a broken down GM car, and yelling out, "buy a Ford" as I used to do. About 100 yds later my cam drive belt broke and I stopped. The GM boys had a laugh as they drove by me. A drive belt costs about $20 and about $50 labour to put it on.

Hope its not too bad financially.

Are there any "petrol head" type guys you know that can tow it to a garage? Offer them a slab of beer.

In town towing in my town in Texas is like $45. Labor is often $65(billing rate) hour for repairs. Some have 2 hour miniums. Plus you pay parts.

What is the make and year model of your car? What happen?

I don't know if you'd be interested or willing to. But there are a lot of books on how to fix cars. You may want to pick one or two up and in the future do your own work. Most of it is not hard and when you do it yourself it is much cheaper.

Me and my dad used to keep the family crap box running pretty well with what's in those books.

You remind me of the character 'the mole' from the South Park movie.
