I recently got a girlfriend. I'm 18 years old and a senior, and she's 15 and a freshman. I'm pretty well-known at school (though I wish I wasn't), so the news has spread like wildfire within 2-3 days. This has caused a lot of underclassmen to feel the liberty to approach me and say "omgwtf? She's 3 years younger than you!" or "PEDOPHILE!" It's mostly freshmen and sophomores who know, but amongst them we're the main subject of gossip. Even my few friends at school are irked by it and talking about it. It's bugging me like it's no tomorrow. I'm getting weird looks, names, everything. I don't care about their stupid opinions, but it's getting SO annoying and I don't know how to deal with it.

 People these days. I know a senior/freshman pair who went out last year and ended up getting engaged. A lot of relationships are between people who are several years apart (my mom and dad are 3 years apart, for instance).
Just ignore them and keep your chin up. I hope it works out for you!

Congratulations on the girlfriend, and I echo LadyCass' words of encouragement.

Now high school was 10 years ago for me, but in my expeirence, most 9th and 10th graders are not the most emotionally mature people in the world. I'm guessing not much has changed. You can't really force them to stop, so I might try some good old fashioned deadpan self-effacing humor to disarm them.

Example:
them: "omgwtf.... 3 years age difference!"
you: "that's only because the 4 year old turned me down"

them: "pedophile!"
you: "could you keep it down a little when you shout that? my parole officer is nearby!"

Your mileage may vary.

I think pointing out that parents can often be ten years apart is a good mention. But it'd be advisable to point out you think it's disgusting to have kids with a 7 year old!

Can I say, ditto and likewise?

Okay, I'm 20 years old and have been working full-time as a graphic designer for two years. Bought my own car, etc etc. My boyfriend is 17 years old and just finished 6th form in highschool (second to last year). My sister is also 17, and just finished 7th form. Everyone at her school (and his...yes, they went to the same school  I met him elsewhere, almost died when I found out) knows him and are WTFing over the fact that it's me and him rather than him and my sister! XD XD XD

People give me a hard time cuz he's so young...I'm a cradle-snatcher  A sugarmummy! LOL!

But ya know...people just get the fook over it. Ignore them, they'll get used to it. Trust me, I got no end of random jibes...I still get the occasional one...and this is from our OLDER friends!

Frankly if they're not jealous, they're just being immature.

First, figure out the legality in your state -- "age of consent", I think it's called.

But, it is a strange part of American culture that an 18-year-old can't date a 15-year-old. There are, of course, certain biological blocks of years, which can and should cause concern, but you two are both in the same block -- mid-teens. Unfortunately, the fact is that it will continue to be very socially inadvisable for you to continue in such a relationship -- not to say what you should do, but simply to say that you're not going to win against this particular stigma. Not sure what I'd do in your place, assuming you're on the right side of the law where you live to begin with.

I avoided a 16 y/o girl that was trying to impress me when I was 18 because I was so afraid of the the problems with age difference.
