What's going on? I wonder.

Well, I've been on SSDI since October. My dad is wanting me to move on to another job, soon, but neither of my mental health providers seems to be in any hurry to get me back to work. In fact, I've had a recent couple of interesting meetings with them. Apparently, they both say they are concerned about me now, but what has changed for them to say that? I tried to get details out of my psychologist, but he just said he was concerned about me, not answering my question.

What on earth is up?

Although it always sounds ominous when people say they're concerned about you without answering why, you can get an answer out of them by repeating your question as often as it takes until they get worn out from dodging it. Your psychologist in particular should not be holding back about what their specific concerns are.

Did you specifically ask them 'what are you concerned about' when they express they are? and they still wont give you any kind of details/insight as to what the concern is? I imagine if they don't seem to be prioritizing getting you back to work, perhaps there is concern that you aren't fit for that right now...Also you mean you just got on SSDI this last October?...generally the idea of disability is that you're too disabled to work and will be for at least a year, and that its unlikely for your condition to significantly improve...is your dad who wants you to move on to another job aware of this? The point of disability SSDI or SSI is not really to get people back to work, perhaps your mental health providers have taken note of this and think you should focus more on treatment than getting back to work...but that is just a guess mostly it is kind of weird they wouldn't tell you more specifically what their concern is if you have directly asked them that.

But then I have also heard of mental health professionals keeping diagnoses from patients which I think is BS, but it happens.

Well, now that I think about it, my dad told me about that after those visits. I remember thinking of someone at some point recommending I be more social. I told him that and he was like, Go do it!

Anyway, with my psychologist, it was in the context of making our time between appointments shorter than previously planned. I think I asked him twice. He dodged the first time and I think he did not speak the second time. Or something.

Then again, it was just moving me from 4 weeks to 3. If it was something really serious, he'd have wanted to make it shorter than that.

It's probably nothing.
