I wouldn't mind the London summer; it doesn't get above the upper 20's Celsius too often. Frequently, it's below 25 Celsius. The weather seems quiet warm when it's 25 Celsius in London, though. I see many people in shorts when it's 15 Celsius.
Here in NYC. the average high is 30 Celsius in July/August. If the high is 25 Celsius with sun, that's quite a cool day.
How did you find the American summers?
I know what you mean about people in London feeling it's very warm when it's only 23 C, yes! I actually get a bit annoyed when even the TV meteorologist in the UK calls it "A HOT day" when it's only 73 Fahrenheit -- especially since I used to live in the US Southwest where in my particular city it could get to be over 100 F and super humid. When Londoners think it's hot I can't help thinking "You guys don't even know what hot really is."
It could be TOO hot in Austin for about eight months of the year, and was very humid. But I prefer that to the summers in London, which are often too short and not warm enough except in short phases. The unpredictability drives me crazy! In Austin, you knew what to wear every single day in summer -- the same thing as yesterday.
But in London, one day can be warm and T-shirt weather, while the next day I've honestly been back in my winter sweaters and a scarf. That kind of angers my Aspie need for no surprises.
