Yes, more drama from OOM. AuntBlabby can confirm this is real though, I've been talking to him since it happened and he's on my FB and seen others talk about it.

A friend of ours was killed in her home in front of her kids last week. I'm not going into the details here, there are a lot of them. But there is a GoFundMe page set up for her family so her husband can use the money for what he needs. He has a job but it's not one that pays him when he doesn't go to work. If anybody wants to donate, please PM me and I'll send you the link. If I'm not here (and I may not be, this chair kills my back) then Aunt Blabby can get you the link, he's liked it on the FB I believe. He's seen it for sure.

Her murder kicked off the week from hell in this town. There was a kidnapping of her sister by the killer, and they caught the guy and the sister is safe. A guy shot his wife and son but they are ok now. A teenager went missing and was found drowned and believed to be murdered. A teenager was shot in the head and dumped by the side of the road today and we think he was one of the special kids, I don't know for sure which kid he was yet.

Also a friend got drunk and fell off a bridge fishing and landed on concrete and was bleeding in his brain. He's ok and home now. My daughter's fiance broke his toe as well at the same place the guy fell off the bridge.

I don't know what else will happen and I've actually been locking my doors. I think it's time to buy a handgun.

Let me know if you want the GoFundMe page, just PM me and I'll send you the link. It's all legit, we know the girl who started it and the family is aware of it and will expect the money so it's not a scam, it's just somebody nice trying to do something nice for nice people who have been through a tragedy.

I have more immediate knowledge of this kind of thing than I should detail on your brand new thread, I don't FB but feel free to PM me. I hope you can get some rest and time with good friends soon.

What kind of thing? The murder? We know who did it and why. It's an open and shut case, but there is some back story surrounding it I won't go into which we all also know all about but we want an investigation.

Do you mean about the rash of violent incidents? I think it's just a random bunch of bad stuff happening at once. We never have crime so this had to happen sometimes. I'll be glad when it's over with and we go back to normal.

What kind of thing did you mean?

Sorry to hear about this OOM. I was actually about to ask if this kind of drama is typical of small towns in the South of the US but since you say now that you don't usually have crime, I have to rephrase that.

Anyway we are all glad you're OK.

Maybe a Chupacabra was visiting your town this week...

Oh dear, that's absolutely terrible. I'm so sorry this happened.

That sounds like the type of stuff I used to be around when I lived in Memphis. What part of the world are you in, if you don't mind me asking? I haven't been here long enough to pick up on where most people reside.

I live in a VERY small country town in West Alabama. We moved here from Birmingham in 01. I was born and raised in Bham and lived there all my life till then except for one year in DC where my husband is from. This is nothing for Bham and I wouldn't bat an eye at it, but we have no crime at all here, hardly ever. Most of it is fights, drugs, or bounced checks. Thats really it. And moving violations. Nobody knows what to do about this or how to act. If this were Bham I wouldn't even think about it but it's not and I don't know what happened.

Oh Alabama! I've never been to Bham, I think the only city I've been to in AL is Huntsville.

I hate to hear that's going on there, hopefully it was just a series of unfortunate events, that will not become a pattern.

I'll be happy when we go back to the only crime being cooking meth! Never thought I'd pine for meth labs but after all this killing and violence, I'd be happy to just see a damn dope cook instead of a murder.

What a horrible series of events, OOM. I'm so sorry to hear about it all and I hope everyone will recover and be okay from here on in.

Me too! I joked on FB that I'm going to call the police commissioner and tell him to turn on the Bat Signal, except the only commissioner we have is for little league baseball but he's also the chief of police in the other half of my town and the game warden so maybe he can manage to contact him lol.

When this is over it will be remembered as the great crime wave of 05. We have a local newspaper, I never wrote for them they have two writers there, and it's very, very small. This week it's going to have to be almost the size of a regular paper to get everything in! That poor writer will have to get out the dictionary to learn new adjectives. (Everybody in town knows and says she is a horrible writer - she is the owners neice. The other guy writes sports and op-ed, they don't let him really touch news)

I've dealt with violence like this firsthand and to be objective, that's what I'm still working through with a lot of people I know. People need each other to re-frame each others' viewpoints when they learn of a disaster like this after the fact. When a friend is pushed across this boundary we know nothing about, it helps to stick together to keep the crazy down.

Thank you everyone. I wasn't that close to her, I have known her for a long time and she was a sweet, sweet girl, but she was my kids friend actually. She was just so nice, and so devoted to her family and building a good life for her kids and was doing so well and this white trash cracker SOB shot her for no reason and killed her. He literally had no reason to shoot her to kidnap the sister, he is a big man and she was about 5-0 and weighed less than 100 lbs. He could have shoved her down and probably done enough damage or knocked the wind out of her to keep her down for the two minutes or so it took him to grab the sister and get out of the house. It makes no sense. I hope he's tortured every day in prison.

I'm sad but not devastated or anything. I'm dealing with it. It's a very sad situation and more than that I'm shocked that it happened here where we have no crime. Then the second murder, a double murder yet, just happened. I don't know what to think. I know it's just random chance that we had these two big crimes right together plus the other stuff but when you have lived in an area that is completely safe for close to 15 years it's still a shocker. I grew up in a very, very bad part of town in Birmingham and I wouldn't think twice about it if we still lived there. I don't feel unsafe here either. These weren't random violence, these were killings between people who knew each other and it was done over something. You aren't going to get shot walking down the street. It's still safe for me to walk to Marathon at midnight if I run out of something. It's just shocking to me that it happened here, and to people I know and in the double murder case to people my kids know and went to school with.

Unbelievable. The entire town is in shock. "What's happened to our town" is talked about more than the actual crimes. I'm not the only one who feels like they were sucked down the rabbit hole into a bad trip.

Thanks for the condolances ya'll, that means a lot. If you pray, keep all the families and all the grieving people in town in your prayers and if you don't them please think good thoughts or whatever you feel works for you.

Thanks ya''l, again. Seriously.
