This afternoon I found out my grandfather passed away.

He was a loving member of our family. A couple years ago before mom met his soon to be wed son he had a stroke and if it were not for him surviving the first stroke and recovering well I would not have been able to see what an amazing grandfather he was and have the great times we had with him as a family at places like the flea market, Universal Studios, the Renaissance Fair, the movies, and at home.

It's strange not seeing him in his room or hearing the TV on at night (he would leave it on when he went to sleep).

The day before yesterday we got his ashes from the crematorium.
Because he served in Vietnam and was a big biker, today we found a group of biker veterans who will hold a memorial service for him.

Just as he enriched your life, I am guessing you also greatly enriched his. Grandchildren can transform life for mature age people; that can take the form of a very special bond which nothing else is like. Deep connections like this live on in our souls - they never end really. Love endures.

At least he is not alone, Christopher Lee joined him on the same day.
We also called him the troll, so he is definitely not alone when it comes to Saruman and Dooku!

I just got back from my grandfathers memorial service provided by the Nam Knights. It was really cool and patriotic with a gun salute and many flags including one from World War 1. They all also rode bikes and there were like a hundred of them parked for it. Afterward there was good food and a farewell. Hardly anyone of them knew him and yet they did all of it in honor of him. :D
