worse this dayprogram requires bloodtests for any drug requiring a blood level. so even if i could get a doctor to take off the obscene dose of lithium, i would still be at a loss to explain my "noncompliance"

My religious beliefs forbid drawing blood for these purposes.
Probably wouldn't be able to pull it off in your position though.

It's important to take a blood test when you are taking Lethium....it is difficult to ge the "right " dose and a fine line between what can help someone and what can kill them.I dont think you can go off all at once with out risking your health?Your DR should have dealt with this long ago,why have they been waiting to check the levels when You are having so many negative symptoms from it?

(from another of your posts)Dont forget to mention this to the UCLA folks when you get to talk to them.It is important that they understand your catch 22 situation.Write it all down chronologically for them so they can understand the time line.I think you have a good case...I hope they do.

i just got out of a pscych ward where just ignored every single rule there. they did not check the level
and it was take it or else, irregardless of what it was doing to me. i was discharged and now am forced to attend a day program.

I worked in a resident center for teens from 1993-2000,qnd they had a few kids on many different drugs....for ADD,depression,anxiety....the irony was that it was a drug treatment program????We only had one person on lethium and he was closely monitored.A lot of the kids had legal problems and their choice was either go to jail or "do their time, and take their meds",some choice.

My wife was put in a situation where she was forced to take her drugs in order to be allowed out of the mental ward - even though she had told them that she would stop, as soon as she got out. She was able to reduce her dosage by hiding some of it, but that kind of hypocrisy just shouldn't be encouraged.
