my parents make me go to church despite the fact that i've told them that i don't like going to church.

nothing i say will convince them...my sister's no help either since she's only known one religion and that is catholic.

Are you religious?

I think that you should make other plans. Are they "bible-bashing", in a sense?

I told my mom I hated this religious cult she bused me to when I was a young kid (I guess I was 10 years old or so). To make her understand I told her I would rather goto school. And she knew I hated school.

When I was at church I just looked at my watch the whole time. I asked my Sunday school teacher "who made God?" She said "he always has existed" Me (look of disbelief) she said "I know its hard to understand"

i'm not very religious. my mom's less strict when it comes to religion but my dad's more religious. he doesn't quote the bible constantly but he hates missing church, has the bible as a short cut on his desktop, and is definitely a believer of god.

i've tried convincing my mom but she won't budge.

Well, that sucks.

I think that the big problem there is that your Dad does not want to be seen to lack discipline in front of the church community by not bringing you.

great, here i go to another mass where i'll be wanting it to end the whole time...

I think that you need to show that you hate it, and don't have any reason to believe in it, and tell them that going to church makes things worse for you.

or..... you could just show them up big style. go tell the minister your an athiest or you worship satan or something equally horrifying for them, keep doing it till they decide you might be better off staying at home.

hmm...they said that i have to go to church until i'm 18. i said what's the point of forcing me to go to something i don't care about? my mom told me that we want you to be catholic for a little longer...i don't want to be catholic! can't they get that through their minds?

That could have repercussions, i.e her dad goes and bans something/punishes her for it.

whenever i do something out of line he sets me aside and gives me the "talk". my dad would be slightly shocked i told the priest that i'm an agnostic. he's not really, really strict but at times he just won't listen. he likes to joke around alot and i can't get through to him so i do something to get his attention...he still won't listen this time. he wants me to go to church because he wants to become a good catholic person.

Damn, but it does seem that he's not exactly a hardline person, perhaps you still have a chance of convincing him. Isn't it against Christianity to force people to do most things?

i'm thinking about talking to him while i'm practicing my driving with him. it's hard to talk to him when my sister's around.

Do you want to be another religion instead, or do you just not want to go to church? Would they let you watch a mass on TV instead?

i don't currently want to be another religion. i just don't want to go. watching it on tv...i've tried doing that before and the preacher is usually more annoying than the ones at our church
