I am unemployed and currently in occupational rehab. I am there three days a week, but otherwise I am at home bored. The meds at least made my depression mostly go away, but I am still bored. Anyone know this feeling? I am nearly a workaholic though.

It truly sucks to be bored.

I was bored as a young kid; in order to alleviate the boredom, I used to shoplift.

I shoplifted a book about the National Basketball Association when I was 11 .

When I was 12, though, I tried to shoplift jacks and a rubber ball. I was caught. I was lucky they didn't call my mother.

I haven't shoplifted since--even though I still get bored.

Play videos games, lots and lots of videos games.

Its hows I cope and I don't even like video games that much to be honest.

Find yourself a "special interest" and go to town!

I can sincerely say I am almost never bored (outside of work, anyway). Anyone who has Internet access has a world of possibilities beckoning.

I was bored, so I started looking at photos on a weather website.
It showed cool places all over the world, including regular backyards in neighborhoods.
I bought a camera.
I started uploading my own photos to the website.
And from that humble beginning ...
I'm now an artist.
My photos have been displayed in art galleries and museums.

Instead of a "special interest" per se,
I prefer "talent" or
"dream"
as in,
"Follow your dream."

It's a lot of work,
but you won't be bored.
At least, not much.

Good luck! :)

Aniheya, I get bored quite a lot. I'm a highly intelligent person, but my job is in food service. I cannot take the pressure of being a wife and mother, and also the pressure of a full time corporate job in computer software development, which is what I did before my kids were born. I cook and do dishes and work, then come home to do it again.

At any rate, reading books really helps me. The trick is to find authors I like. I enjoy reading novels from the library.

I also paint, but that takes a lot of concentration, and the holidays have been terrible and stressful this year for various reasons. I have a painting in progress, and hope to get back into it soon.

I get bored easily but I tend to distract myself by spending time with my girlfriend, time on computer(this forum & looking up stuff), listening to music, watching TV, & playing older video-games.

Video games. Some like World of Warcraft never finish so you can log on and always find something to do. Probably why I've played it since 2008. Also, any kind of art project if you have or can afford the materials. Every time I have excess money I buy a lot of art supplies because they essentially never go bad. So over the course of a few years I have pretty much everything I need to make anything except a kiln. I'd suggest any creative hobby you have any desire or skill in.
