Hi

I have been under a lot of stress as of late at my work. On top of that, I have my usual anxiety. I have grown fed up with these feelings and I want to beat it down.

At work, one of my bosses is a little difficult to deal with. I feel most of my social anxiety comes from dealing with him. Him and I have been struggling on a project for a few weeks now because of an issue with the end computer that I have very little control over. His stance is usually to criticize the integrity of the applications I build and his, what seems to be refusal to listen, to my opinion.I don't know why I have this anxiety when dealing with him as he is not the shouting type of person. He also seems to treat me with a more serious tone than he treats my co-workers. He wants me to become the cyber security expert of the company due to my "eye for detail" (and paranoia).

I usually have a fear of being fired, although the bosses never had a long lasting problem with me in my 3 year career with them. As mentioned above, me and my boss are having a rough few weeks with one project, but we are also under pressure from our separate projects. Part of me thinks this is just a rough patch for the both of us.

Compounding on that, my fiancee is being tormented by a horrible boss leaving her in a bad state which also affects me.she has already given her resignation notice but her boss is making sure that she is going through hell before she leaves.

Any advice?

I can't give advice but I will share my experience.

At the end of last year I got a very bad review. First time in 15 years.

Fear of getting fired bit be big time.

The big bosses kept bring me in for meetings.
Asking my direct supervisor for help and interpreting words and body language.
Things started turning better

I also went from high scores on Aspie on line to a formal and meetings with a counselor.

For stress I
Learned to play simple tunes on the ukulele
My wife got us coloring books
Celebrate Recovery attendance - it's for all hurts hang ups and habits.

I spin 3 times a week
Before that a walk to our mailbox was taxing.
Meditation- actually the spoken word or nature sounds.
Sometimes my brain gets more irritated listening to say a youtube video that was helpful in past -then I just turn it off.

Those have helped me.
Also one more - gratitude list.

exercise is a great stress and anxiety buster. perhaps you and your fiance could go for a walk each day.

Cathylynn- great idea of doing something together - walks and talks or just walks :D

One thing I like about my wife is we can be OK in silence.

I have rejoined the gym this week actually. Regular working out has proven very good to me as I was a gym rat in my senior high school year. My fiancee does not want to work out with me, so I try to have us talk about our troubles which doesn't help much either.
