It's like whenever I really get stressed I either panic or temporarily lose my ability to speak in human language. It's annoying! Why does it happen to me? WHY?

How come my siblings aren't freaks like me? Huh? Neither of them try to understand, I'm just a weird older sister.

End rant.

Hi everyone!

I sometimes get like that when I really panic. But only when it's really bad like if I have to speak in front of lots of people.
I don't know why it happens to you though, sorry :(

I go mute unpredictably - I have no idea what causes it, or coincides with it. So I can't do anything about it. Some people learn Sign (ASL) because they can't talk during meltdowns - oh yeah, that was on my list of things to do. Someday. Soon.

I throw my hands about uncontrollably and make whiny noises.

The only other way I know how to communicate is with dog-speak (that's what I call it anyways)

I can relate to that...I freeze up when somebody is angry/dominating/aggressive/yelling..etc... Oh, and when I feel that the person is not listening I can't communicate as much as I'd like to...also when the person is accusing me or putting me down or not treating me with respect, I tend to flounder...I can't express myself clearly in those situations when I most need to be sharp and logical, and it is frustrating...

I can't speak verbally to those I don't know, I'm indifferent to it, i.e., it's who I am.

Yeah! That's it! And when I'm near-breaking-point with stress!

Thanks for that.

Shutdown? As in everything stopping?

I'll do the same, when I get stressed. Temporarily go mute, then stutter to get the words out. Very annoying.

Used to annoy the hell out of my ex, too. (But then she was an NT who didn't understand me, so there you go...)

I get that when I am very stressed, I flap around and cant talk, often in arguments, making the person trying to argue with me very annoyed. It used to be worse and I would go ages without talking, I learnt BSL but I do not tend to need it now hence iI am forgetting it :?
