And it's bothering me so much. I almost never feel joy anymore. When I do, it's mild and short-lived. I can get depressed though. For most things though, I just feel indifferent. I felt indifferent when the VA Tech shooting happened, and when my gf broke up with me on Wednesday...

Did you know anybody at VTech? I told my shrink I was not affected when my Gran died but I said I didn't see her much (shrink said thats normal if we weren't close)

Maybe you just weren't into her any more? Perhaps she figured it out and thats why she dumped you?

I mean if you didn't care can you really still like her that much?

You're not alone. I find I seldom care about a great deal these days.

I've failed an exam? Never mind. Another friend gives me up as a bad job? Oh well. Even when I caught my ex getting her jollies with another chap I wasn't overly bothered.

So no, it's not wrong to be indifferent. Emotions are, for the most part, too much extra hassle. I can summon some up if absolutely necessary but otherwise I keep them out of the way of things.

I can relate, I get that way sometimes. I think it's a defense mechanism

I've become the same way. I think I used to be very upset over world situations that I could do nothing about, so I'd paint about them. Now, I feel very indifferent and a little too calm. So calm, in fact, that it infuriates my husband.

Don't feel bad about it. If it's natural for you, go with it.
