What's the longest you've gone without talking?

I've been dreaming more and more of just not speaking.

Anybody actually done it? I guess I first thought about it after seeing 'Little Miss Sunshine'.

Longest I probably ever go without speaking is when i'm asleep, but I certain;y can't gaurentee that.

Otherwise, if we're considering every aspect of talking (in my case to others and to onesself) then the longest may well be about three hours, when I was 16, and I had an English exam of that length.

No more than a day.
Not sure exactly how long though.

Yea, Same here Soph. For someone who has alot of trouble conversing, I talk ALOT.

Yeh I have trouble conversing as well. I'm sure I've never been very long without talking though as my mum talks to me every day, asking whether I've done my work etc. If I didn't live with my family though then I could go weeks without speaking to anyone.

I find myself fantasizing about a life where I didn't have to speak.

I'd like to be able to talk to myself. But, other than that, I could happily live a life without speaking.

I think the most for me was two days in a row. They were on my days off from work and I'd stay home and either watch TV or read. After that, I had to go back to work and practice doing small talk with my co-workers.

Not very long - I tend to talk to myself if there's nobody around. Babbling is a particular weakness of mine, as I hate silences that seem like they're begging for something to fill them.

8 hours. I love the sound of my voice.

1) a few days is probably the longest I've been not speaking.
2) about five hours is the longest I've been unable to speak.
(not including the first few years after I was born)

A few days (by a few times) when I've been completely mute due to overwhelming anxiety; other than that, I've always spoken to my mother when she's spoken to me.

I've gone a few years of not talking to anyone other than my mother, if that counts. In reality, I've never spoken to anyone other than my mother with my real voice; everyone else gets the monotonous madman.

I don't feel alone when I'm alone; only when people approach and/or talk to me.

from friday morning to monday afternoon was the longest, I was hacking

Probably managed a week or so.
Have to go shopping eventually,
so I end up saying what kind of
bag I want.

Not sure if I end up talking to myself
during all of my 'lone' periods though.
Probably have managed not actually
verbalizing my thoughts when really
depressive.

About 2 months but that was before my sister moved back to Texas last year.
