I know they're doing this just to make us miserable. They're trying to take WP off the internet for good. Filthy disgusting scum-filled cowards. I hate the planet and everything on it and I want to die. Obviously it's not just about the spam, but it's not helping.

The spammers should all be severely beaten with clubs and thrown in chains. Or just arrested.

I'm so sorry it's getting to you. I think I just went numb to it and mostly have given up browsing WP past a certain point in the evening. I've noticed it hits each night at the same time, in a ten minute window centered on 4:00 UTC. And then, of course, it stays up until a mod can clear it out. Perhaps one of them could do so at 4:30 UTC? Or maybe the site could implement any of dozens of ways to prevent it? Thank you, to the mods who clear them out - your job is thankless and yet we all depend on you to keep the site usable.

There have been several threads now about the topic, conversations between people who work with websites & spam in our daily jobs. It's really not that hard to defeat/prevent most of it - a bit more work with an older platform - but the effort must be made.

Please calm down. Spammers are everywhere, they arent doing it as a plot to stop people with autism.

I strongly suggest messaging Alex (founder of the site). I sent him a message about the spamming issue days ago- no reply yet. From what I know he is the only actual admin of this site, so mods can't just put better filters in place.

It honestly needs to stop. Same goes for the logout issue people have had, plus the nonsense captcha issue. The moderators of the site can only do so much. If the founder of the site is just letting this happen and if it continues- I would bet many many people will leave. I realize he might be busy with other stuff but ignoring site members complaints is horrible and needs to stop.

I see a lot of awfulizing and thought distortion going on in this thread. Chill, people. Do you really have NO OTHER OUTLET so a spammer in India (or wherever) is ruining your life? I mean I see the spam sometimes, and yes I have the logout and captcha issues, but so what. Get some real problems, like a parent who is dying or finding out you have cancer, and this one will seem like small potatoes.

We're autistics. WP is where we are understood. For some it has become so much more than just a Wordpress internet forum. When it is unusable, on those dark and stormy nights when Cloudflare is failing and the spams's coming down in sheets thick as lead*, it can mess with our evening routine. And while it's good to sometimes stray from routine, at other times, it's been a hard day that felt like earth quaked, and the poison arrows fell from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shook. And sometimes on those nights we just don't feel like looking that big old denial-of-service spam storm right square in the eye and saying, 'Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it.' We just want to hear from and talk to our tribe, because they make us feel better.

* my apologies to Jack Burton

I have more than one tribe ... I am not just an autistic. And I recommend this to others. I have an old chatrooom (general) that I drop by sometimes. Maybe other times I'll get on Youtube. Then other times, it's Facebook. Or maybe I call or email a family member, or pet my cat. I bounce around. It's not a good plan to "put all your eggs in one basket."

Oh, I agree. I'm just...suggesting to you that perhaps some people - who are in some way different from you - do depend on WP to some degree because it is the best fit. They may (or may not) have lives outside the forum but when they need to talk to people who understand, it can be incredibly frustrating that they cannot login / post / find the next real post. And we autistics are not always so good with frustration like that, especially if its been a very trying day.
