I've had it with my Wal-Mart. When I went tonight I swear I don't think any of the employees I dealt with had measurable brain activity if you combined them all. These weren't just high school kids either, because I don't expect high school part time employees who work for gas and pocket money to know everything, these were people in their 30s and up who work there for a living. One couldn't manage to clean up the mess/blood from a cart of wrapped meat he spilled that busted open so half the store smelled like raw hamburger meat and he was just spreading the diluted blood around with a dirty mop so it dried sticky, another one who worked in electronics couldn't tell me anything at all about the phone chargers and I honestly don't think she even knew how they worked, the lady in the garden section had no idea if they had potting soil in the garden center and couldn't be bothered to check because she was on a personal call and when she accidentally turned the overhead sprinkler on while I was out there looking for it she didn't turn it off she just told me to "walk real quick like" cause I guess when you walk quick like water coming from overhead doesn't get you wet, and the cashier just stood there with her mouth open staring at the register in a daze when she didn't punch in the amount I gave her and she was suddenly required to do basic math and subtract 85 from 100 and actually had to call her supervisor over to tell her that she now owes me 15 which is what I had told her four times.
If there was some place else to shop in this town I would, because I'm getting fed up with this. It's like having third graders work there.

They get what they pay for.
Radio Shack, for example, hired people for their personalities, and not for their intelligence or technical knowledge. Now they're owned by Sprint (?), after closing down most of their stores, and they now sell mostly mobile phones.
Wal-Mart, by the way, is closing down 269 stores, 154 in the U.S.
Connection?

Here in NL it is a problem with many stores and shops. They pay peanuts, hire monkeys and they cannot differentiate themselves from other stores. A lot of these common stores go bankrupt or are closed.
There are some shops that are more expensive and have better personnel, you get better help there. Most people do not go there, but they still have enough customers to survive.
When I go shopping I prefer a more expensive store. You get proper help and are not bothered by some 16 year old person with no real knowledge of the merchandise, style or other aspects.
Or I just shop online and do not see any people

They sound like they're experiencing too much Walmart syndrome, which tells me many of them work full time at walmart. From what I hear its not generally a very good company to work for and they have to do some stupid cheer in the morning about how they love their job at Walmart, people usually work there out of desperation.
I feel like my brain is melting within 30 mins of being inside a wal-mart store, and it only gets worse from there it literally feels like I am turning into a zombified idiot the longer I'm there not even joking.

I sure hope they don't close down Walmart where I live. They've closed down K-Mart, Zellers, replaced Zellers with Target which flopped in less than a year, so Walmart is about the only store left that actually sells a decent variety of things. I don't want to walk all over Sydney just to buy food, toys, stationary, video games, and so on. How I miss having a decent shopping center that only took me a few minutes to walk down to. The frustration of not being able to have a car to go anywhere halfway decent is so awful that sometimes I can't stand it.
In the past Malwart would give its employees regular raises, the longer you worked for them, the more you got paid. Then they stopped this.I had a friend that worked for years in the garden dept and she was making more than the manager. She quit after they changed their policy on wages. Now there's no reason to stay,so most people that work there don't stay long enough to know what they are doing.
I haven't been in one in over a year, now that we have a Dollar General in my small town I just go there.
Malwart is just to big and overwhelming for me,I also start to feel numb after I'm in there.Too many sounds, weird smells and people.
It was a better store when the old man,Sam Walton was alive.Once his greedy ass kids got ahold of it,all downhill as far as I'm concerned.
For cheap produce I go to Aldi, better prices than Malwart.

Unlike some other stores, Walmart doesn't hire people based on their knowledge for each department.
My company does, and it's why I can't transfer to another department except maybe hunting. I know ammo but I don't hunt and it covers both.
I don't expect people at Walmart or target to know anything about their department besides where stuff is.
attractive lady in sporting good doesn't even support or like guns. There is s guy who works back there occasionally that knows stuff , I try to wait for when he's there to buy anything.
That said I don't blam the employees Walmart is a terrible place to work, my place use to be good but it's going down hill since a ex Walmart guy took over. They've just be gutting everything good to save money.
I don't know much about a lot of the things in my department, we have a tiny version of every department in the store with new stuff coming up every day. I'm guessing some people probably get mad like you do. I don't fish, hunt, use scopes, or camp much. I know guns and ammo. I try to helpe people with what I've learned from other customers and if not suggest they go down to the floor department to ask. Sometimes I try to get them up to me to help customer but most don't want to. It's frustrating becaus I really want to help customers and feel terrible I can't

I actually like Wal-Mart overall but I don't like some of the folks they hired recently. I also love in a very small town about 45 minutes away from any other towns and we have very few stores so Wal-Mart is where everybody goes. We have a dollar General and dollar tree but you don't want to buy but certain things there. Dollar General is where I get paper and cleaning stuff, dog and cat stuff, shampoo and that kind of stuff and batteries. Dollar tree is where I get stuff that doesn't matter because it's all crap there. Party decorations and greeting cards and stuff like that. We have two locally owned grocery stores, a cvs, a mom and pop drug store with a lunch counter and small clothing store that has irregular and messed up things. So Wal-Mart is where everybody shops unless you want to drive an hour somewhere. Also because it's a real small town people can actually live on their Wal-Mart salary.
I just wish that having a certain level of intelligence was required to be hired here. I know the manager. He's been there over ten years and lives in town. All the employees live in town. I just think he could do better when hiring people. His wife just had another baby so he's all distracted. He needs to get his s**t together.

I used to work at a Wal-Mart a few years back. This can happen a lot and very much depending on the person and location. I was told by a cashier before my third shift about BBB. I'm not sure if it would be effective now or if this has to be the employee who sends the complaint to the BBB or not. Since Wal-Mart is a chain store but your case I think a complaint needs to be done in the future to the BBB. I wish I would've replied earlier about this. I can try to help you in certain ways with a place like Wal-Mart up to a point. Since things often change with Wal-Mart and updates.

Everyone hates Walmart that is closest to where I live, but they shop there anyway. I just like that their hours as a grocery store are open so much later than everyone else. You can just pricematch stuff assuming you aren't too lazy to look in advertisements. The carts at Walmart make me want to scream though. All the carts have at least one broken wheel. The interior lights are also WAY too bright. They never open more checkout lanes even when people are lined back up into the center of the store. It's really just the sh***y management. The Walmart's in the nicer parts of the city have way cleaner stores and better selection, yet they all charge the same prices.

Wal-Mart probably has the least intelligent employees of any store or just employer period I've ever come in contact with, like they have people working as cashiers that literally can't count. I remember once I paid for something that was like $1.30 or something with a $10 bill and it took this poor girl like 5 minutes+ to work out how much change I should get, I had no idea what the problem was don't they have computers or calculators?
They'll not allowed computers. The store I worked at had one valuation for the all the cashiers . Why would they since the register does all the calulations
Suddenly having to make change without the machines to a super impatient customer causes me to feeze
I use my phone for all math now
Technology has made humans stupider and anti social.

Nah, that's not what he means. We cannot control what others do but we can control how we react to it. We can't control how we feel about what someone does or says but we can control our actions and words in response to it.
I could have been a douche there about it but I wasn't. I came home, complained online, and calmed down. It wasn't the end of the world and honestly not worth somebody being fired here in this isolated small town with few jobs. Ill talk to the manager and ask if he could maybe do more training overall. This place hires from town because nobody will drive an hour to get there for minimum wage, so they deserve to make a living too. It was just a trip to the store and not something really important. I got frustrated but I got over it. I controlled how I reacted. Their stupidity didn't mean I had to do without something important and the few extra minutes it took me isn't as important as someone else making a living. Although the manager does need to set standards and make sure they learn to be up to them.
Someone else's mean or rude words or actions doesn't control what I do or say, I control that. If someone makes me mad or hurts my feelings, then what they did will effect my feelings or my mood but I control the effect it has on what I do and say. If I choose to let having my feelings hurt or getting angry effect my words and actions then they are effected. If I choose not to let it effect what I say and do then it doesn't. Others words and actions can effect how we feel whether or not we want it to, but we have the choice to let it effect what we do and say. While we have no control over how we may feel, we have control over how we respond and react. In other words when someone says that another's words or actions can't force you to do something they are right. Nobody, including Fjord, says that others words or actions cannot effect our feelings. We can choose to act or say things in spite of how we feel because we are adults and we have learned self control.
If someone insults me while I'm out enjoying a shopping trip or something then I can't choose whether or not my feelings will be hurt or ill be angry. I can choose whether or not to let those feelings cause by the insult make me go home without doing what I had set out to do. I can choose whether or not to let some slu*ty chick laughing at my hat cause me to never wear it again or to go home and change. I can't choose how it makes me feel though. That's where logic comes in. That's where I tell myself that her opinion doesn't matter and she's wearing glitter on her eyes at 9am so she's no paragon of fashion, and while I know it's true it doesn't stop me feeling self conscious, what stops that is continuing to wear it and physically ignoring her.
When someone tells you others can't effect you they aren't talking about your feelings they are talking about how you act in spite of your feelings, and acting like you wanted to in the first place and like whatever it is doesn't bother you and continuing to follow the plan you had is how you learn to not let people get to you so much. It gets easier over time, believe me.
