I was nearly arrested last night during a severe meltdown. I nearly hit a police officer with a hammer but was restrained by the police officers until the paramedics came. The police and ambulance was called to my house last night as the neighbours heard me fully fledged screaming and smashing stuff. It was an extreme meltdown.

The paramedics were amazing though. They knew about autism and helped me calm down.

Police were a**holes but the Metropolitan Police have a record for being a**holes.

I have a haematoma on my head, skin torn off my hand and some wounds on my arms.

I'm home now.

I'm due to see my psychiatrist tomorrow about going back to supported housing.

This was the second police / A&E incident I've had in a week and I'm drained. Also had loads of smaller meltdowns in between.

I am still concussed.

So sorry to hear that! I hope your psychiatrist is helpful. Therapy might be a good idea too.

Thanks. What kind of therapy?

Just therapy in general.

I'd be exhausted, too, if I were going through what you're going through.

Yes, I think it's time for supported housing.

What triggered the meltdowns?

I'll ask about therapy but the last thing the NHS gave me was a psychologist who had no clue about autism and who did things like expose me to loud noises and try to prevent me from reacting.

The meltdowns were triggered by cumulative stress including uni and also my mother being abusive and drunk often. I don't live with her but she comes round a lot. Also my mental health team are a**holes who refuse to acknowledge the severity of my situation, and the Autism Team refused me based purely on my IQ, which is illegal in England.

I emailed a letter to my MP about this yesterday and he said he will look into it.

I might also make a complaint against the Metropolitan Police (not the first time I've complained) as they were shouting right in my face, which made my meltdown worse, and then they threatened the Taser on me (a Taser is a device that delivers electric shocks to temporarily incapacitate someone).

ow. :| i am curious about the seemingly random appearance of a hammer.

there is a significant lack of education among western police in general about dealing with disabled people. i believe it's too true.

what was the outing for?

I should have expressed my support more, Steel Maiden.

Hang in there!

The hammer was in a drawer and I grabbed it. I was at home.

I agree with you.

The Metropolitan Police are useless with disabilities in general.

Hi there. This is indeed a terrible hate crime. Out of curiosity though,
did you carry your Autism Alert Card? There are times, I needed a backup and found I could have used it then.
If not, then call your local autistic society, or National Autistic Society. It's not too late.

You're lucky you're not American or you would have been shot dead where you stood. Police here don't plat around with that s**t. Especially nowadays. You'd have been at least tasered as soon as you exited the door and they saw a hammer. You'd be lucky to have been given one warning with 15 seconds for complete compliance.

sorry, must have missed that part. :| what is the hammer for?

in a perfect world, they will learn and be more understanding in the future. that could help with all the bad rap they get as of late.

i hope your skin is healing quickly enough and you will not need a graft.

You seem to be a danger to yourself and others.
Perhaps you should live in a more supported situation?

They are looking into supported housing for me.

Well I'm on a psychiatric ward now. I was sectioned by the police. I was found walking on a motorway mid meltdown. The police jumped on me and I went into a severe meltdown. There were five police officers, a police van, car and an ambulance. I was kicking them (couldn't control myself) but the officers were actually pretty nice once I was in the ambulance.

Well I'm on the psychiatric ward and not sure what will happen when I see the psychiatrist tomorrow..... I've had two major meltdowns here already.

Please, Steel Maiden....please don't make it worse for yourself.

Please take time to reflect.

You have a good, smart mind.

Please reflect on all this. I do want you to get the degree in pharmacology.

Please do try to hold off the meltdowns.

I'm trying. My head is so f***ed as of late and I've been at 90% stress levels for weeks now.

Also my mum is being abusive.

Because my capacity for dealing with stress is 90% saturated, the smallest thing can set me off.

I keep getting shutdowns too.

I'm seeing the ward psychiatrist tomorrow.
